Been a while, have had some more ups and downs. Found a long arm cross member for 100$, its a 3 piece built by Metalcraft innovations, the dude I bought it from says they were from NorCal before they went under, and it looks like a really solid design. It is only has 2 lower mounts right now, so i can use radius arms or weld on an upper mount for a 3 link which is what I plan to do.
On Memorial day wknd, my stock injectors, which I had taken out to put China junk 4 hole injectors, and put back in when those went bad, **** out on my on the freeway and I had a terrible miss fire and I couldt hit over 2k rpm to gt back to fwy speed. I purchased some legit Chrysler 4 hole injectors as replacement and I am pretty satisfied with them, not magic mpg increase but idles very smooth. I am not sure the exact number for these injectors but they all say, 0 280 156 007.
When I got the car on the trailer I noticed something leaking from the rear passengers side. ****. My new Bilstein shock with less then 5000 miles blew up from daily driving, Ive confirmed that I have the correct bump stop and havent wheeled with them once, so I am pretty bummed. I could probably warranty them but then I dont have a rear shock for however long it takes them to deal with it , and they might not even replace it. So Ive ingored it, whatever its not that bad.
That is pretty much up to speed. I really wanted to install the parts I had laying around that I need to go off-roading because Ive only gone a couple times with my new tires, I went to install a longer rear brake line, Dodge Dakota, becasue my stock line became a limint strap very fast upon articulation. But the hard line was rotted out and I ended up breaking it. I was really pissed because I was going to replace the whole hard line, couldnt find one for under 200$, so I just bought 25 ft of steel line and a flaring tool and was going to bend it all up. But I figured I could just run union to the nearest good peice of line. About a foot from where my hard line broke, it was all in really good condtion and flared really well. I replaced the rotted section and install the Dakota line. Really happy that worked out well. All good to wheel.
Nope, I needed to make things worse. I decided since it should be easy Id replaced the steering box spacer and install the steering box brace I had. I was running just the crossmember part of the brace installed and I noticed a huge difference for the better, but never install the steering box portion, no time or space at school. But 2/3 bolts snapped and was a huge P.I.T.A, I made the costly mistake of grinding one flush and trying to use an EZ out. Broke the EZ out and I couldnt drill it out. I shouldve left the inch of thread that stayed like the other bolt, and use 2 nuts to back it out, this was successful on the other one but not much help since I already f'ed up. I decided needed to buy a new steering box and decided to get the Redhead box because my dad had good luck with them on his super duties. It will arrive sometime this week and Ill install it and should really be good to go offroading. Glad I went to replace the spacer though, my current aluminum was cracked. frame is solid around this area
Also put in an HID headlight harness and got a new driver window motor because mine is bad.
Alright so thats where i am at, once I get my steering box in and braced up I am going to go off roading. Just been holding off because I kind of wanted to strengthen up some stuff, even if overkill for 31s and no locker, because its my only car and I dont want to break it. I am going to buy some lunchbox lockers next, before I dive into my long arm project, but after those things I dont really have any more plans, maybe remove a leaf from my leaf springs, and put in a little longer shackle so the stock shackles dont rub on my SRBs.
