Update:

I finally changed my rear u-joint for the driveshaft, plus both front ones at the wheels. No more vibrations! I also got my new 31's mounted. No rubbing unless I turn my wheels all the way (just like with my used 31's) I'm just losing some flex I guess.....for now.

P.S.: I'll take daytime picture tomorrow.

Next step is replacing my floor before snow gets here.

Bonus picture:

I took this one the same day I got the tires. This is my 2,5 years old son.

So, after 3 days with brand new 31's on stock suspension (sagging a bit), I have to say that it does fit nicely. The tires are very good on wet pavement, they evacuate the water pretty well. Anyways here's better pictures.

Daytime pictures:

Showing how it fits in there.

Whats your plan for trimming the fenders to get better clearance? Apparently the stock flares can be cut and relocated higher up, or (since your on a tight budget) you can take a very affordable route and use factory TJ flares. I did this on one of my XJ's and i really like the way it looks. Some people aren't a fan ot them but they're not all that crazy looking like bushwackers or anything and don't even come close to the price either. The fronts are easy to do, just cut and drill holes to bolt them on. You will gain an amazing amount of clearance. Trimming the back fenders is alittle trickier. Cut the excess under the pinch weld then notch about an inch into the body past the pinch weld on the curves and take a rubber mallet and bend the lip over. Paint will flake off of course but the rocker guard stuff you have been using will work great after you flake off the loose paint and give it a good coat of primer. I used spray on bedliner but whatever works. The TJ flares on the back are alittle trickier to mount and i honestly gave up on them. I do know though that they mount high and you have to cut them and put part on the door. It you take your time with them i've seen them turm out really nice not to mention you can do it all for under 100 bucks. Instead of the TJ flares i bought some pop rivet fender flares from rusty's offroad instead. If you wanna stick to cheap with a good look and you don't mind kinda winging it as far as mounting the flares go (for the back at least) your best bet in my opinion would be TJ flares. Your jeep looks like it's coming along well, once you get that lift in it then you'll be in business for sure. Happy wheeling.

Cool!!! Thanks alot! I appreciate the advice.

Here's another update:

I finished bed lining the bottom of my doors/rockers. (after a year) I only had the driver's side done, but I didn't do it right so I had to redo it. I also did one more coat on my front bumper.

Here's more pictures:

Next thing is the floors. I originally wanted to get some sheet metal and do it with someone I know, but after thinking it over, I'll order the floor already made up. Then I'll just ask a shop to weld it. It might end up being more expensive that way, but it will look nicer and be stronger too. I plan on wheeling alot with it and maybe even some rock crawling in 2-3 years, so by doing this I'll be sure to have a solid machine.

Nice to see another guy from Canada. Where did you get your lift from? I can't find any online Canadian dealers that could sell me one.

And Awesome job getting Territories! I run them and they are by far the best tires in snow I have ever had...EVER! They're awesome. Just run them at a higher pressure than stock, about 40psi and you'll get good mileage too.

Glad to see that you like them. I'm really looking forward driving in deep snow with them. I'll check the pressure too. Thanks for the advice!

Hey, I gotta show some pride, you know?

As for the lift, I was supposed to have it installed now, but I had to change my u-joints and buy tires. Now, I'm going to replace my floors before snow gets here. I will hopefully have a brand new floor by next month.

After, I"ll start saving up to get that lift installed. Hopefully I'll have it done either before Christmas or after New Years Day.

Let me know when you are back in town and we could hang out or something. When our XJ's are ready for wheeling we'll go.

Well, I'm in Montreal, so we have our Habs. People that live in Quebec (3 hours drive North East of Montreal) do miss having a NHL team. The government and the mayor of Quebec city are actually talking about having another team there, so the people in Quebec city are very excited right now.

Update:

I had a problem with my heater (right when it gets colder ), I only had the high speed setting working. Well, with the help of this forum (using the search feature instead of starting a thread about it ) I was able to know what the problem was. I went to the parts store and bought a blower motor resistor and changed it. Now all my speed works Even for someone that never does any mechanics, it was easy to do.

Next, is the blower motor. It's on it's way. It makes loud noises when I hit a hard bump. Thanks alot for saving me money. I will have to officially become member on the forum now.

Next big project: New floors!!!

I ordered a brand new floor pan. (front to back)

It will be an expensive job, but I think it's worth it since the XJ does not have alot of mileage and looks good all together. It should be here in ~2 weeks, but then I'll have to wait until after the holidays to get it done.

Update:

The shop called on Thursday to let me know that they received the floor pan. I just have to go pay for it and schedule an appointment.

Also, I bought and installed some Sylvania Silverstars. I was gonna post some pictures, but they didn't came out good. The lights look bright as hell. I will take it for a spin later tonight and will take some pictures.. I'm sure I'll like them because I used to have some in my Intrepid and it made a huge difference.
