i would deff do 2x6 just cus i would think 2x4 would harldley stick out whatsoever... and who cares if it sticks out it would probly look better... no function lost... only gained protection..
I'd do 2x4 so I could later weld 2" dom tubing step bars to them for a bit more of a custom touch.

i really love the 3 inch lift. 4.5 would be great but it would also cost much more.. and i can do just as much with 3 and with some lockers and a little bellie protection.. look out, it will be unstoppable!! ideally id be at 4.5 with like 36's hahah but i dont have the moola for that..
and the trails are at mountianside orv. awesome awesome place... i love it

well not much has happened but i figured i would post for the sake of updating since its been a while..
i replaced all the u joints in the front and rear driveshaft, replaced the centering yoke, replaced 3 tie rod ends, replaced the rear main seal, and replaced the valve cover gasket. and some other odds and ends i cant think of..
im also working on fabing up some adjustable bumpstops: (the wooden ones didnt work out to well haha)

i dont have much in the way of pics, but i made a video of pictures and a clip or to to kinda sum up my first year of owning the jeep:
