Here goes another build thread, my 3rd one. First one was rusted through everywhere so I unfortunately parted it out. Second one was a bad buy and sold it to buy my college DD.
This jeep is going to be kept for good. My dad decided since it'll be my second car that he'll build it with me this time.
So here it is:
1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 177k
4.0, AW4, 231, Dana30, Chrysler 8.25
No Rust, Runs Well, Needs some TLC
$500

The reason behind buying a 1994 is that in 2 months it can be tagged Historic which means no Maryland State Inspection and no emissions tests. So for the next few months it's being stored at a friend's tow yard for free.

It does have a few issues that need to be addressed:
1.) Transfer Case is messed up somehow. It sounds like the chain is dragging the bottom of the case. The 4x4 also does not work.
2.) On start up theres a fairly loud rattle/clunk for some reason. No idea what that is.
3.) Drivers door hinge is falling off the door frame. Then someone tried to re-weld it and burnt through the door frame. So I got a quote for $100-$150 to fix that.
4.) A/C has an issue, but I'm taking the doors off so i dont care.
5.) Oil pan gasket is leaking bad.

Today I started a little bit of work on it. Just a few hours messing with things and admiring it.
1.) Put in my floor mats that I've had in all my jeeps.
2.) Started it up after sitting for 2 weeks. Started right up like a champ.
3.) Found out the oil was about 2 quarts low. Lets see how well it runs later on.
4.) Seafoamed it and not a whole lot came out. Nothing like the videos you see on youtube.

The jeep came with two 12" Alpine subs and an alpine mono amp. Not sure if I'm going to keep them long or not. They sound pretty good.

Bought a cheap transfer case from a sort-of friend up in PA. It came out of a 1998 and will not just bolt into my 1994 and be able to work.
Since my lift plans are to o 4.5", we're just installing an SYE now so the TC works and so it's easier because the case is out of the jeep.

Going through two jeeps has taught me a lot and my dad has learned nearly everything with me.
Here is our lift plan:
1.) RE 3.5" leaf packs
2.) 1" extended shackle
3.) low profile relocation brackets
4.) degree shims
5.) RE 4.5" coils
6.) SS extended brake lines
7.) 5100 Bilstein Shocks
8.) Iron Rock Offraod Adj. UCAs & LCAs
9.) Iron Rock Offroad Double Sheer Track Bar
10.) SYE w/ front drive shaft
11.) Bar Pin Eliminators

Great plan, but I would put the $350+ for the Adj UCA and LCA towards long arms. Our one XJ with long arms rides sooo much better that the short adj U+LCAs. You're over halfway towards a set of RC long arms which include skid plates. We originally were going to do 3" lift and that is how the adj arms came about, and with added weight and wheeling, we raised to 4.5" and wish we had long arms. So now I will have to spring for the full $ amount for the long arms. Live and learn.
Have fun building.
