I have an 1986 jeep cherokee that sits 1" Taller all the way around than what is should. From the center of the wheel to the bottom of the front fender flare is about 18.4" and the back is about 19 plus inches.

Should have what is called the "Off-Highway Package." Does it have skids and tow hooks?

The only skid that I have is the plastic one on my fuel tank. I don't have any tow hooks. I have the tow reciever lol. I will check for a rear sway in a couple days though.

yea its all mainly trim options
Base/SE = the basic which means no power anything
Sport = power windows and locks, cloth seats
Laredo = power windows, locks, and seats (power/comfort tranny option if pre-'91)
Limited = leather seats, power everything
Briarwood = leather seats, power everything, wood panelling
havent done much with Country, Pioneer, Chief, 60th Anniv., Freedom, Classic or any of the others

My 86 is a pioneer with a 2.8 V-6 and its a P.O.S. until I can find a good inexpensive donor engine for it, though the four wheel works real good

Free tow hitch
I known with the grand Cherokee you can get a free tow hitch at jeep cuz of a recall due to not enough fuel tank protection. May be the same for xj. Check it out
