I pulled the Broken Durango Box out on Saturday.
After inspection it is definitely a factor in my loose steering, out put shaft has serious play in it.

Unfortunately, the replacement box I got from Advanced had stripped threads on its output shaft, I guess they don't look at that from a quality standpoint...
So another replacement should be here this week.

On the upside I got my Brown Dog Motor Mounts in:

Drivers Side First:

Driver Installed

Passenger Out

Passenger IN

All in all went pretty smooth, did the whole Job Solo, only real issue was trying to get the bolt to line up for the passenger mount, took 45 min to get it right. Did the whole job in just under 2.5 hours.

Haven't got to test them yet as the Steering Box is out but here is the first sign that these are working:

That is a bolt going through my winch bumper, the thing above it is the alternator. That Shiny gray spot is where the alternator has been sitting on the bolt... So it raised my motor up about 3/4" from where it was sitting.

Well picked up my third re-manufactured Durango box last night.

Working under the Jeep solo with the aid of the floor jack I got it bolted up.
Still need to hook the PS lines up and get the air out of the system & Bolt the drag link back up.

Also, I never posted this when I did this swap the first time cause it was a last minute fab out of 3/16" flat plate. But this is my inner frame brace.

It's been holding up well, I can tell from the shape of the plate and the frame that it's been doing its job.

Well still haven't finished the steering box...

But, I did make a BIG purchase to start the next phase of the build.

Much FAB Work will be in the near future.

Well got everything hooked back up and his happened:

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/rou...1/#post2868440

I was able to bleed the air out of the steering pump but haven't test drove it yet to see the differences. Want to replace the sensor first if I could just remember which one causes his issue.

Got a trip to Uwharrie planned for tomorrow.

I went ahead and ordered a new TPS & IAC , they've never been replaced in 20years so don't think it'll hurt to just do both.

Also, about what I bought the other day anyone want to guess whats under the tarp?

Just a question, what's your gas mileage?

No, but I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post that response.

Thanks, the build been a long drawn out process, always something to do.
Gas Millage... I usually refer to it as Gallons to the Mile.

Although it's probably like 12MPG, haven't really checked since the mileage is off anyway until... (My SYE & Speedo Gear go in for the bad boy under the tarp)

Oh that's not too bad. Does the Roof rack effect it much?

But, our Jeeps will never be "finished". They'll break, we'll fix them, then once they inevitably rust out or snap, they live on in our memories.

Rack doesn't do much, it's the lights & the spare tire that create all the drag, hence why I took the tire down.

79 Bronco HP Dana 44 5x5.5 Lug pattern
Came with a custom set of long arms and steering.

I'll post up the details of the work involved later, I've just had my eyes open for a while for one of these to turn up for the right price.
