I will be taking a bunch of pics when it's complete. I plan on entering COTM for July, which happens to be my birthday month. What would be a better present than to win COTM?? I'll shoot a bunch of pics when done though, so people can take a look at the finished product.

Well, I've found out that 1.5" O.D. tubing is too big to make a tie rod out of. It hits my Ruff Stuff HD diff. cover when the steering is turned to full lock on the DS. I will still use it to make the drag link, but I will have to down size the tie rod. I thought it might clear, but it doesn't....DOH!! I started fabbing the gas tank skid, just going by the K.I.S.S. program for this. Tried to source the longer steering box bolts, and the local Big R store had none, GREAT!! I'm doing this out in the country, and it is a half hour run back into the springs, and I didn't have time to get it done. I'll get them this week, so I can mount the bumper. Well, that's about it, more to come...

longer bolts for the steering box for what if you need them for mounting the bumper why not just get some stage 8 from the lowes or hd. and i think the biggest you can go on the crossover 1.25 that is what i have and it barely clears when at full lock

1.25" is what I plan on using, I wish I'd have known that going in, but I didn't, and MAN it barely hits!! I cant find that metric pitch at a hardware store, but I can find it a fastener store here in town.

Some pics of progress:
Here are some pictures of some of the progress I've made on the Jeep in the last couple of visits to the shop.
Boring out the hole in the pitman arm to 5/8" for the X-over steering:
All new parts....SWEEET!!
A shot of the new power steering pump in place, sans lines. I haven't put the new steering box in yet, I have to get longer bolts for it.
The old power steering box, notice how it is soaked in oil. I was draining the power steering fluid from the system into a bucket that had various other used lubricants in it. When I cut the last line, the box fell right into the bucket, splashing oil and crud all under the Jeep, on me, and best yet, it broke the bottom out of the bucket, so get out the floor dry!! GOOD, GOOD TIMES!!
Starting with the gas tank skid:
The last few shots, it is in place and welded. I still have to grind the welds in some places, and grind the slag off from the plasma cutter. I think it turned out good, and should do the job.
Well, that is where I'm at. I hope to get-r-done by the July 4th weekend, that would be a great time for a shakedown run!! Laters!!

Went to the shop last night, and got some things done, but... So I pulled the skid plate off of the gas tank, and ground it. I painted it and both bumpers. I started installing everything, and noticed a leak coming form the front of the Jeep. Upon review, it was coolant. It seems that since it has been living such a hard life, it has decided to produce a hole in my new radiator, SWEET!! I found that the leak was located right where the zip cords go through the rad that hold the fan and trans cooler in place. It was fine the entire time I drove it, and wheeled it, and now has become a problem!! I just piled up some floor dry under the leak, and left it alone. I guess it's better to have happened in the garage, rather than on the trail!! Anyway, I got the gas tank skid and bumper mounted, and they seem to be rather solid. I have the front bumper mounted, but not completely. I didn't have the camera, so I'll have to take some pics tonight.
