Default New Radiator

More coolant leaks, this time its a crack on the side fins. I don't know if its always been there or just now. Must have been there as bad as its rusted on the side.

I Ordered a Spectra Premium CU11933 its a 3 row radiator off amazon with good ratings for 76 dollars, a Mopar thermostat & Gasket, and a radiator cap. Install was self explanatory. I flushed the rust out, then drained it. Removed the cover off the radiator, and disconnected the hoses. I used a Lisle fuel line remover on the solid line at the bottom. The only thing that wasn't right from the whole install was the two top threaded posts on the new radiator didn't line up with the holes on the cover... which was an easy fix. I just drilled 2 new holes, and bolted it on. I flushed it again after install, while I did that I took the thermostat out to get good flow during the flush and replaced it with a new mopar thermostat and gasket when I was done, and used the new radiator cap cause it doesn't come with one.

It's running so good now, once it reaches 210 degrees, it drops just a hair, no more leaks too. Love it, and I love being able to work on a vehicle I enjoy.

Default Comfort Stuff

WIND NOISE
I ordered a gasket for the driver side door and installed it. The previous one had a gash in it and sounded like I had the window cracked open all the time. This makes it alot quieter. I got this one off ebay and was pretty easy to put in. I started at one end taking it out and slipped the new one in right behind it as the old one was coming out.

POWER LOCKS
Next I ordered some power locks off ebay. Mine would make a noise but not do anything. I tested for a sound at all doors and also tried the switch at the driver and passenger side door. I made sure I got a noise from all doors before I ordered a set of electric actuators. These have a small motor and a thin bar that slides in and out. I took off my door panels and started trying different spots that they would work best. The front doors were easier because they have an extra eyelet in the lock. I just screwed the motors close to the eyelet and bent a hook then ran it through the eyelet. The motor pulls the bar thats hooked to the eyelet and unlocks the door. The Rear Doors I had to run the new bar parallel to the existing bar going from the locks to the latch and tie wrap them together then JB weld them, not using them until it dried. They do come with a small linkage but they break easily. These aren't polarity sensitive but you do have to make sure they are all wired the same or you'll have some unlocking and some locking.

I got some extra money and ordered a powertrax No-Slip Locker for the front Dana 30. After alot of going back and forth, I finally decided to put it in the front dana 30, because I think it will complement the limited slip in the rear after I rebuild the clutches, and I decided its better to pull than to push.

While I'm in there i also ordered 2 U-Joints, and 2 yukon inner axle seals.

Default No-Slip Locker, U-Joints, and Inner Axle Seals

I wish those stupid chickens would stop taking a dump on my lawn chairs.

The Powertrax No-Slip, Spicer U-Joints, and inner axle seals came in. I Started to take the hubs off and draining the differential. I took everything off the front axles and slid them out. Biggest tip from that... I tried using a 5 foot breaker bar on the axle nut, but an electric impact from harbor freight took it off in 5 seconds. I bought it just for that and got it for just over 30 bucks with a coupon and a free magnet bowl.

I cleaned everything, and slipped the no-slip in place (pun intended).

Wow, the tire on the work van is getting low
I replaced the u-joints next. The U-joints were very time consuming but I enjoyed it. It was Relaxing slow pace work at the work bench instead of hunkered down underneath the jeep. After that I put in the inner axle seals. To put those in I used a bunch of half inch extensions and a 1-7/16 socket, I stacked the extensions to make a long rod and used the socket as a set tool, It fits perfectly inside the seals. the extensions were on amazon "addon" so they were about 4 dollars a piece.

Got everything inplace, tested the locker per instructions and buttoned it back up. I thought I had ordered a lube locker for the cover, but I checked my amazon account and it said I never placed it. Oh well I put a bead of RTV on it and torqued it down. I waited a few hours for it to dry, and put some mobil 90 in. Took it for a test spin and works great... Steering took a nose dive in 4 wheel drive but that's expected. I Love the new Spicer U-Joints, Its so smooth, I'm glad I took the extra time to do that while I was in there. To be honest I just about skipped it. But I had at least one cap on each side that was nasty, rusted and completely seized up.

Default Wires, Injectors, and Plugs

Got some Bosch spark plug wires, Champion Spark plugs and Neon injectors in the mail this weekend. I can't resist, I'll be putting them in today. I got the 784 neon injectors that fit a 99. I tested them with a 12v plugin transformer, and a can of carb cleaner. I rigged up a way of applying pressure to the injector and shot carb cleaner through it by applying voltage. Man I'm thankful for youtube. I also bought a rebuild kit from Mr. Injector. Great kit for decent price. He's got a cool logo too I wish I had a sticker. I may print one off.

To install the injectors you have to mark your wires, then unplug those. remove the linkages off the top of the intake. Then pull super hard on the rail. You have to pull straight inline with the injectors too. If an O-ring gets stuck inside the rail, just use a flathead to scoop it out. When installing the new ones, I use a little bit of grease to lub the o-ring and rail side of the injector to help slide it back in. Be careful not to cut the oring, cause its a tight fit.

Default Not limited slip!!!

Ok, I'm pretty bummed out today. my plan was to have my locker in the front and a Limited slip in the back. I was under the impression that my rear was a limited slip. The previous owner said it was and it also has LS in the axle number. But before I ordered any parts something told me to check it. I raised the back and spun the tires and the other one spun the opposite way. No big deal at first, I Kinda expected that the plates would be wore out. So I bought some differential oil and took the cover off. And to my surprise, its an open differential. I was really hoping to spend a 100 bucks on a clutch pack and have a rebuilt LS in the back and my locker in the front... the setup I wanted. Now I'm gonna have to figure something else out.

Thats actually pretty good idea. That would also help me get rid of these drum brakes and into some disks. I'm gonna start researching that.

Well at least I painted my rear differential cover to match the front today. Now they are both DeWALT Yellow. Its pretty close to the brown dog motor mounts yellow too. I like the cub cadet Yellow Spray Paint from Tractor supply, I think the marigold by rustoleum is close too.

Default Future Plans & Update

Quick update on the bulldog,

The neon injectors, plugs and wires are worth it. Realistically we're not talking a 10% increase in throttle response or horse power gain but, My wife and I agree it feels like driving a new car. The engine purrs instead of putts.

The speed daddy header is still holding up. So are the browndog poly motor mounts.

No-Slip locker in the front grabs while turning sometimes, especially on gravel. But works good in mud on my land.

New Radiator still holds at 210 no matter what and no more rust in coolant, nuff said.

My Future Plans:
Buy a Mig welder
Headlights need upgrade. Are HIDs worth the work or any recommendations?
Detroit Locker rear Went with a No-Slip Front and rear
Disk Brakes rear
BFGs 33"
3.75 Backspace D window Wheels
Fab Bumpers Front & Rear
Fab roof rack
drawers or shelves in back hatch
winch
upgrade Exhaust
Pull Dents from hail damage
Cerakote entire Jeep

Well I was researching Detroit lockers until there was an overstock sale on no-slip lockers so I couldn't pass it up. I got a 50 dollar ebay gift card for fathers day
I don't know if links like this are not allowed if they are moderators please remove, but this is what I got.

Default 50 amp for Welder

WELDER RECEPTACLE
Just finished installing a 50 amp receptacle for a welder, There is so much stuff I wanna fab, front bumper, back bumper, roof rack, 8.8 brackets, solar panel mounts for the house. So I got started, ran wire from the panel, installed a new breaker, and two receptacles. The other receptacle is for a generator hookup so I killed two birds with one stone.
