Just placed my order with Ruff Stuff for the 7/8 heim steering kit. Got it for a great price and once it comes in ill be spending the day making it and installing. Dan said that it takes about 4-5 days to get here so expect some pics and another update by next weekend.

Got all the steering stuff in on friday. I took some measurements, i got 51.75" for tie rod and 35.5" for drag link. I did also measure the heims with the adapters for how much thread i wanted and it came out to be 3.5" so the tie rod would be 44.75" long and the drag link 28.5". thinking about getting it cut tonight in a bit and then tomorrow after i get back from the races im getting it welded up so then i can just paint it and install on monday unless i get enough time after the races on sunday.

Well I was going to install the new steering yesterday but got called out to the races to help with the car. Trans doesnt stay in gear and the clutch went out when trying to load it up. So I all I got done was cutting the tube and welding in the adapters. Got off work today and went and picked up all the bolts I needed and was going to finish it tonight but got called again and have to go pull the motor and trans out of the racecar tonight to have it ready for road of america at the end of july.

Got the motor, trans, radiator all pulled and washed down the car. we got the trans apart and found what went bad. found that the rear main was leaking pretty good on a brand new motor. clutch plate was burned up. then we started to prep the other motor.

Got the steering all finished tonight after work. Went through 2 step drill bits (got them replaced for free.) since both ended up break i just exchanged it for a normal 3/4 bit to finish the pitman arm. After bolting it up i did a quick alignment on it and got it pretty perfect. took it for a test drive and its very tight and responsive which is good. but i still have a horrible death wobble. after my test drive i narrowed it down to a worn out heim joint on the track bar that i just bought last summer. So if i cant get a free replacement from rough country, i have enough tube left over from the steering kit to make a new custom track bar. I will just have to get a new bracket for the axle and some heims joints.

Well not really much of an update, but I'm thinking of trading my xj for an mj or j10/20, I really like the suv but could use a truck a little more. Plus I don't really ever have 4 people in my jeep at once, right now the only thing I like more about the xj is that I can keep my fishing poles inside and have them secure.

Well this build came to an end. Sold the jeep for 1400 and a 2005 Honda shadow spirit 750. It was a really cold ride back 100 miles in the dark on a bike. But its totally worth it.
