Thanks man, I'm trying to do all the cheap stuff first lol. So far I haven't had to spend a dime on anything I've done. Yea I like the look of them black, I think I'm going to leave the face of the spokes silver, and paint the rest black and see how it looks, then if I don't like it just paint it all black.

So, had a bit of an annoying mishap with the rims today. I taped off the spokes on one rim today like I had planned to do, no issues taping it off but the paint I used was absolutely f**ked and was EXTREMELY watery. After spraying one coat, letting it dry, and sprayed on the second coat, it looked like I mixed my paint with water, and sprayed on 8 coats, it was running and there were massive puddles of wet paint and it seeped under the tape. So by this point I was way to pi$$ed off and annoyed to bother taping off the other rims and I just bought some new paint and painted them all black and will paint the other one all black once the ****ty paint dries.
The first picture is of the mishap, the second is of the normal all black rim.

Been really busy so I've only had time to do some minor work this week. I got the front two rims, leaving the back ones on because I still have some work to do inside and don't want it to be wobbling too badly. I removed all the badges, adhesive is still on it and got rid of a couple of the fender flares. Trying to decide whether I want to buy the paint and do that this weekend, or get some of the parts for my bastard pack. Opinions? Putting my set of 31"s on it this weekend.
Also regarding the bastard pack, does anyone know if leaf springs off an 88 Chevy 1/2 Ton will work the same as Blazer or S10 leafs?
So far, this build has ran me a total of $28.35 lol.
Here's just some random pics I took earlier today, the last picture is of my helper lol.

Gonna be quite a few updates coming up in the next few days as I'm buying the paint and primer and starting paint this weekend, getting my 31" tires put on, finishing the floor, buying a Cherrybomb Glasspack muffler and installing it, and then putting the interior and everything back together.
She'll look like a real Jeep in no time at all lol

Well today my complete lack of patience and impulsive attitude resulted in my Jeep getting painted lol. you'll notice I didn't bother taping off my fender flares because well they're getting removed and the wheel wells cut anyway so there was no point wasting paint on them. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out all things considered.
Still have to do some minor touch ups and have to finish painting the hood, I ran out of black half way through.
It's still somewhat wet in the pictures so it looks brighter than it really is but it's still nowhere near as dark as I wanted it. Don't have a paint code for the color it's just a spray bomb. Krylon brand dark blue or something like that.

That looks like 1980's RCMP cop car blue. I always loved that color.
I am watching this build with great interest, I am actively shopping for a Cherokee, and want to find one as cheap as I can. Seeing how easy/hard it is to do some of these repairs/mods is helping me decide what issues I am willing to overlook when I do find one.

Depending on how picky you are, you can pick them up really cheap, I got mine for $200 and the only thing it NEEDED was an alternator. One of the best things about Jeeps of any kind is just how easy it is do work on them as long as you have a basic understanding of mechanics and are willing to do some work. This is my 3rd Jeep, and 2nd XJ and I've always done all my own repairs.

Here's just a couple quick pictures I snapped of the paint now that it's completely dry so you guys can get a better idea of the color, it's not as bright as the other pictures made it look.

Picked this up earlier this morning, on sale for $19.99 bringing my total build cost so far to about $40-$45, not too shabby. Should have the floor finished and exhaust finished or at least started later tonight. Also found 2 cans of spray on bed-liner buried in the garage so there's some more money saved on the build.

Happier than a pig in $hit right now, the Jeep is FINALLY down off jack stands, 31" tires mounted, paint finished, and it's back out of the garage...For now lol. Didn't get the floor finished, some problems with the welder so that's delayed a day or two but it's coming.
Here's some pics, ignore the muffler hanging down lol.
