Hello, all! I'm new to this forum from the south side of Chicago. I was looking for a winter beater, so I found a 78 in working order on CL for 2200, and talked the guy down to 1500. it has the 360 2bl, 4 speed manual, a 13,000lb winch, and factory air. other than that, it's pretty much bone stock. it's pretty beat up, and the interior is completely trashed, but the drive train is very solid. it made a 2 hr trip back home just fine, and went through some wheeling at my buddies place just fine.
here's a pic of it from CL
here's when I got it home
so then I found this guy on ebay for $650. the guy says it runs, but I just need it for the interior and a few odds and ends like the bumpers/turn signals/rear gate/etc... pretty cool because I guess it has the rare Levi's seats and door panels. it was also a mail truck, so it's got a funny pulley guide on the wheel, and an extra set of pedals
anyways. my plans are to just make it a nice dependable winter truck, but that will probably change into me going completely overboard with the thing. the only major things the truck needs right now is:
-the gas tank needs replaced. it's leaking something terrible
-replace the interior
-new tires
-a nice tune up
that's pretty much it!
