Thanks for that. Tried to make it look "right", still would like to do a little more, but so far so good.

I have a 6" drop and it's still not enough. If the tongue of my trailer wasn't bent I would need a 10"+ drop. Not sure how the tongue was bent but it hasn't bent any more since I've owned it. When the tires wear out on my trailer I plan to put a 3500lb axle under it and put on a new tongue.

Your trailer must have a short set of leafs and small tires on it. Mine has the 3500 lb axle and 15" load range c radial tires.

it's got 4 lug hubs, tiny tires rated for 917 or something like that each, and the leafs only span the length of the fender.

Yea thats a whole different setup, you might make sure the deck and frame could handle more carrying capacity.

Finally had a chance to clean it up Tuesday night after the weekend of work and the rains we got.

Was out at my folks and thought this would be a good pic.

Also cleaned out the warehouse at work and found an old set of Mercedes floor mats from one of my wife's former cars. Thought I would repurpose them to the XJ.

I think the frame can handle it. The frame is 2x4 c channel and box tubing with 1/4 plate floor ad walls.

Next weekend is the first race of the season so I started prepping the race car. Ordered new Hoosier R7s to replace one set of the slicks and had to swap the stock wheels back on the car. Decided to haul the first set to the shop to break them down and was impressed with the XJ's capability.

Was a beautiful evening to work on the car.

Gave the ole Jeep a workout this weekend. We are continuing on our landscape project and needed some river rock, so I headed to the local nursery and picked up 1.25 ton. Told him to load it in the middle and he got close. It was tongue heavy on the Jeep though.

How was stopping with all that weight behind you? That trailer doesn't have brakes right? I worry about stopping when towing. Used to be crazy scary with my 91 until I up-graded my booster. I plan on having electric brakes on my trailer/camper when I'm done building it. Just wondering if our XJ tow and stop ok when towing (without trailer brakes?)

I can't speak for him, but disc brakes in the rear of my Cherokee help a lot. Still not the best stopping with a trailer full of stuff, but a lot less scary. Never not been able to stop in time (knock on wood). Trailer brakes would definitely be nice though.

It stops decent, could be better. Have been looking into rear disc and an upgrade on the fronts. Been spending money on the house instead of the vehicles.

I am pretty respectful when I drive with a heavy trailer, would love to have trailer brakes on it though.

Good to know. I had to drive that way even without the trailer before I did the booster up-grade. Stopping used to be so scary, it crated pretty good habits to live by.

Was following along MaskedMallard's thread on his Orvis build and SpoilerLights chimed in with the Orvis knock off spoiler, offering free shipping. So I took the offer. Looking forward to this addition.
