Ok so here are some pics of what I did last weekend...

went to my local tyre dealer and got a set of 30/9/15 Maxxis Bighorns M/T's installed... these are awesome tyres ...I had them on my Toyota Hilux truck and they preformed very well....

Also got around to finally paint my flares to give the body a bit of contrast...I think it looks much better...

And decided to fit a bonnet scoop.... (cutting the holes in the bonnet was oh so yuk).... but ya gotta do it !!! out ... will most likely also install a vent with drip pan on the other side...this will help the under bonnet temps...

Ok another update.... been busy this week, have ordered my new shocks...they are OME by ARB will be picking them up tomorrow and also picking up my Pro Comp new steering damper...

Ok so this week I had my water pump let go, so it was time to get a new one.. after calling around found a good priced one at one of the local parts shop !! Also got a new theromstat hose clamps and gasgets..had a good look at the bottom/top rad hoses they seemed to be in very good condition so left them on the Jeep...

So started with removing the screws that hold the fan shroud, then slid the shroud upwards and out of the enginge bay...was very tight to get this out as the fan and clutch make it rather difficult...

Then prceeded to loosen fan bolts and water pump pulley bolts..I left the tension on the sepentine belt so it would make it easier to remove the pulley bolts... removed the clutch/fan water pump pulley. Loosened the Altinateor and removed the pulley belt...

Next I removed the thermstat housing and basiclly was now ready to attack the removal of the water pump.. Removed bottom rad hose from pump, this was done with not to much trouble. Removed the 6 bolts that hold the pump in place 4 on the pump and 2 via the bracket that holds the power steering pump also. And there you are pump out... Cleaned up all mating surfaces, installed new gasgets, applied gasget goo, pump etc etc..Installed new Thermostat and housing, Thought it would be a tight working area but once the bits were removed had a decent enough of room to play with the pump..

So here are some pics l, sorry there from my mobile/cell phone so not too good... this week I hope to install the steering damper and 4 x shock absorbers.

Why do you block out your license plate on every picture then leave two pictures where we can CLEARLY see them? 583 ILG

Itouchme....Its mainly done here in Aus on the LOCAL forums ... so the boys in blue dont get ya on all the mods we do...there is this notion that they scan the threads to see whats legal and whats not... does not bother me really... !!! Anyway thats why you may see some pics that way...

Thats interesting... I too have had a Hilux and Nissan GQ Patrol...but yea gotta say there something about owning a Jeep...I love my XJ and get a heap of enjoyment modding and driving it...we went out again last weekend to the same 4wd park you see in the pics above, and I had a ball pity I took no pics as the weather was horrible...rained all day but made for awesome driving... jeep came hope with Mud all over it...

The install of the OME nitro's have made a vast improvement over the stock shocks ...they came out easy after a good spray/soaking...

I have a good mate who is making up a set of rock sliders at the moment ..hope to have them on by Christmas.

Well rock sliders are currently being made up by a mate of mine... bought all the materials this week for it... going for max protection, it will have the usual square tube 2" x 2" sitting under the sills and have a step profile made out of round tube extending about 2" out from the sill to keep the rocks away from the doors etc. hope to have fittted soon !!!

Also order my rear springs today from ARB, am going for 2" OME leafs... front has a 2" inch spacer. on my already installed H/Duty coils.

The ride from the OME shocks is awesome so nice ...

Well after some mucking around...have finally got the Steering damper on...what seemed like a simple task took me a few weeks... well by the time I got off my butt and really got into it....I bought this as the S/D would not budge no matter how much I hit the stub...but the tool proved to wide
and gave me not enough leaverage to push the joint apart.. (this is where the pin drops through the steering arm/draglink)

Anyway was shown another tool , so I quickly went down to the local parts shop and bought the puller you see below... and hey presto, after winding up the tool, I heard a loud crack..
hell I thought I broke the tool.. but the pin finally pulled apart..

And my new Pro Comp S/Damper is in... steering has a much better feel !!

Rock Sliders were fitted this weekend by a good mate..SO while I was there we went for a day trip to Kroombit Tops in North Queesland (Aus) .,.. Its a top place to 4wdrive... !!!
Ok here are some pics from the weekend .. these pics are the pre muddy pics... just at air down.....

couple of pics from Kroombit Tops yesterday..........THANKS FOR THE PICS DAVE....

[/quote]
You can see the sliders fitted in this pic only tack welded... but they soon came off after the trip... to have the support arms fully welded up...then bolted to the chassis rail...

This pic shows the finished product ready to be fitted (not Painted)

This pic shows how the top section of the rock slide incorporates a rail to bolt to the lower seam... there are also 2 support brackets each side that bolt to the chassis rails for extra support and strength...
Here you see Dave what he does best,,,,
This pic shows him tack welding the chassis support brackets, before removing them for the full weld up and bolting on...

Dave doing a trial fit...
