I feel like I've seen the front tire carrier before but I can't remember where! But done right I think it could certainly look nice

Well in that case, you probably won't be seeing much snow

I had to chuckle a bit reading through this thread. I remember my first car, and all the excitement and all the plans I had for it, that seemed to change from day to day.

My advice for you on your project, would be to spend your money in a different direction for a bit, what I am talking about is purchasing yourself a decent set of tools. I'm not saying go out and but top of the line snap on, or mac tools... but a middle of the road set of craftsman tools from Sears would be a great start.
I would also highly recommend getting a CHILTONS or a HAYNES manual for your Jeep. They are not the end all be all of information by any means, but a good manual will go a long ways towards building your project.

Next, and you won't really like to hear this part, because it really does nothing towards making your Jeep "cooler" but instead of putting on new rims and tires, or putting on a lift kit, I would concentrate all of your focus on ALL the little issues that you have.. stuff like the leaking rear differential cover, the leaking oil pan gasket, and most likely your valve cover gasket is leaking too... The reason I advise you to do this is because (A) most of it is easy stuff for you to learn on. (B) you can have the coolest looking Jeep in the world, and it won't matter if it is broken down and does not run!

I know your Jeep is running now.. I am just trying to let you see the bigger picture. Owning a vehicle is a big responsibility, and the more time you take on basic general maintenance, the more you will appreciate what it takes to own a vehicle, and also the less likely you will be to abuse your Jeep, because you will have a greater appreciation at what it takes to keep it running.

Wow do I sound like a dad here or what?!

Besides all of that. You do have a pretty clean Jeep to start off with. My first ride was a 79 VW rabbit... what a tin can POS that thing was! But, it was mine, and I got to learn how to pay for and fix things on that one, which in turn lead me down the road of vehicle ownership.

I hope I didnt come off too preachy.. I remember my father telling me these things, and your dad is probably doing the same thing. Sometimes though it helps to hear from somebody who is not a parental unit.

Good luck with your project. If you run into anything, feel free to PM.

no worries murrdogg, general maintnence is all important to me as well, seems like we both have good heads on lol. first weekend after i officially buy it im flushing all fluids out and cleaning this thing head to toe and fixing all leaks before i do any mods, i need this thing aligned and fix my death wobble as well, these would all be things i wouldve already fixed but i see no real point in putting money into the jeep that my dad still dd's lol. i agree, i could spend 100k on making it look kick *** but if i still didnt do basic maintnence, its not good. but yeah flushing everything out new spark plugs battery, distributor, etc. im gonna be treating this thing like it was a 69 camaro ss with a 572 and it was the last one in the world,

Here's a good thread for your death wobble. Is your problem happening while driving or during deceleration?

also putting all these mods without basic maintnence and everything else is like painting over a rusty swiss cheese car body, eventually that rust is gonna need to be repaired

X2, Can't agree with this more. Maintaining your drivetrain is the most important part of owning a Jeep, It's the heart of your beast, keep it healthy! Lucky for you, you are working on the 4.0 I6 Bulletproof, it's a great platform, relatively straightforward to maintain and repair.

The rest of advice Murrdogg gave you is sound as well.
