Hmm I see. Well at least you have a nice xj now. I respect how nice you've kept it.

Mech gauged it and it runs
30 hot throttle
10 hot idle.
Its not great but at the same time could be worse. At 157K there's definitely some wear on the engine that a rebuild would correct. I was hoping this would be the year to do some major engine upgrades but it just hasn't worked out.

chances are your crank bearings are worn so it's not building as much pressure as you'd like. Not too bad to change those - just drop the oil pan and replace one at a time. I'd plan on replacing the oil pump at the same time.

That's what I think as well. I've looked at replacing them but that's about as far as I got. I figure I'll take that money and put it toward an engine upgrade as long as the OP stays where it is.
On a positive note I received word that the new LA's are installed and the truss arrived. Steering box and pump are being pulled and sent to PSC so it sounds like progress is being made.

After much prodding I climbed under the jeep today to snap some pics of the new setup. I haven't had a chance to put many miles on it but it does appear from a couple quick trips around town the bump steer, dead spot and generally ****ty handling has been eliminated.
Also had those hideous welds on the exhaust fixed.
One thing I can't get over is how quickly Moog TRE's rust and become an eyesore.
