I love working on old cars a lot of other people have worked on... woke up extra early thanks to my 4 year old, decided to work on my jeep for a few minutes since it's so nice outside, found out my front bumper was held on by just two bolts that were barely finger tight, should be 6 bolts torqued to like 75ft/lbs. So now, a 30 minute job of installing new front tow hooks is going to be a half a day job of going to the hardware store, hoping they have enough of the correct size and length bolts, PLUS I need to get two of those clip screw things since they are missing as well. Fingers crossed I can find those at autozone or what ever.
Needed space in the garage, so mounted the tires and put them on the jeep. I wish this was driveable as is, I LOVE the look of the stuffed tires, but if it ever went off road, it would be undriveable. even turning wouldn't be so hot on the road. Still waiting on my lift kit.
Went out to see if my wiring job for the license plate light was good before putting on my new hatch panel, (which it doesn't btw, even the stock one doesn't light up so gotta trace some wiring on that). Started up the jeep, and let it idle for a bit while I was messing with wiring, and my daughter asked me why my jeep was leaking oil. Went and looked under the hood and one of the fuel injectors is just PISSING gas out of it. Shut it down fast, and no fire. but I guess fuel injectors are now on the list.
Yay! my trackbar got a tracking number! hopefully it will be just a couple of more days before the lift kit ships. I still have A TON of work to do, but a lot of it is waiting to be done with the lift or after the lift is done.
So... somebody asked me how much I've spent on my XJ... well I paid $2000 for the jeep and ~$5999 in parts so far. (rounded). so 3x the Jeep just in parts. and I know I'm far from done.
so I shampooed my carpets this morning. now the whole jeep smells like Coffee, which, I'm guessing, is the source of the sticky mess that was in my carpets. 1 gallon of water soaked and vacuumed off 3 times. (three total gallons) and the last one was still as black and disgusting as the first. I was using my little shop vac to vacuum stuff up, but maybe I'll go rent a rug doctor and clean it till it stops smelling like coffee... (I HATE the smell of coffee, i have issues with smells and coffee is one of the worst).
Oh, and I sold the seats I bought, they just were not going to fit. ended up ordering suspension seats, which are backordered (of course) and might show up in 4 weeks... so another month before I am driving.

Try King Kullen they have shop vacs you can rent. I have a RugDoctor machine equipped with a handheld attachment. Super useful for cleaning vehicle carpets.

yeah, I was going to do the rug doctor with a hand attachment, so I could see easier what areas are actually dirty. My method was spreading the yuck. I got a ton out but so much more needs to be done.
