Originally I took the window vents out when I wasn't camping but they do such a good job keeping rain out and the Jeep cool inside I've decided to just leave them in. They make a little noise running down the road at 50+, but nothing too serious.

Default Shovel & Axe

If anyone is interested, I used quickfist clamps to mount my axe and shovel on my roof basket. They’ve been working really well. Fortunately I don’t live in an area where they’re likely to get stolen since they’re not locked, but I prefer the ease of use over something lockable anyway.

That bed. Neat idea! Do you have to sleep with the tailgate opened? Can it be easily disassembled to allow you to use the back for cargo? Do you still have the fold down top of the back seat installed? or did you have to remove it all to get the bed to fit properly?

I slide the passenger seat forward and sleep with my head at the rear hatch. At 5’9 I have plenty of room. I didn’t build it to extend once the seat is forward, although I’ve seen people that have. The memory foam mattress I’m using is enough to keep my feet elevated. I did completely remove the rear seat. Not because I had to,but just because it took up essential storage space that I wanted. The way I made it the top is in 2 pieces. So you just unscrew those 2 pieces and once they’re removed the frame slides right out. You could easily build something similar to work with the rear seat still installed. But removing it gave me a lot more storage, and made it easier to get in and out since you’re stepping into the rear floorboard of the Jeep instead of onto the back of the folded down seat.

There’s a guy on YouTube that built one for the back of his Grand Cherokee that allows for the rear seat to stay in and comes out easily. I pretty much stole his blueprints and modified to suit my needs. His channel is hawkeyeskunkworks if you want to check out his build video.

Default Fog Lights

I’m pretty sure I’m going to mount my fog lights directly to my bumper instead of buying a brow bar from Detours as I’d originally planned. Idk. Let me know what you guys think? I could always go back and add the brow bar later if I wanted. I’m just tired of waiting to put those lights on and not wanting to spend the money for the brow bar.

Couldn’t wait. They’re not wired yet, but they look great.

Did you put anything on the bumper caps and fender flares? They look great

Also, I like your cargo area. It's a little like mine: http://dannix.net/lib/truck/jeep-storage

Yes. The flares, grille, bumpers, and end caps are all sprayed with black bedliner. I used the spray can type you can get from Napa. It’s held up amazingly with very little prep. Just a quick scotch brite scuff and cleaning and you’re ready to spray. It also makes it really easy to touch up since it’s textured. Any little scratches you can just spray back over, and it’s like it never happened.

I dig it! Love the window vents - there's another guy on here who made some with ABS plastic. I want to do something similar.

Where in Tennessee are you? I live in NY but am a born and raised Knoxvillian.

Thanks! I was honestly surprised how good of a job they do. I’ve had them in during some pretty nasty thunderstorms and haven’t gotten a drop of water inside. I made mine from corrugated plastic poster/sign board and some vents from Lowe’s. You can remove the wire from the back of the vents to put in the bug screen, then just put the wire back on to hold it all in place. Caulk around the vent and paint to match or black for the windows and you’re set.

I’m in Jackson. So a pretty good haul from Knoxville. Although I plan on being in that area soon on a 2 week trip. I’ve been wanting to go to Windrock for a long time now.
