So, I’ve been using this forum for quite a while now to get ideas and feedback for my Jeep. Now that I’ve nearly finished it I thought it was time to start giving back to the community a little with my own feedback and experiences. I’ll post some pictures of my Jeep as it currently sits and new pics as it continues to morph into what I need/want it to be.

My first note is that I currently have the RC AAL lift. It’s been on for a little over a year with no actual wheeling taking place. As you can probably see the rear leafs have already started sagging. New 3in Leaf springs from RC came in today. I was on the fence on the Rubicon express hd 3.5 springs to replace the stock, but there were way too many people getting effectively 5in of lift out of them. I’ll note that occasionally I wish I’d gone 4.5”, but 3” will get me anywhere I’m wanting to go and is still easy to get in and out of standing at 5’9” tall.

Looking forward to seeing the progress. I’ve got a ‘98, that will be a slow build. But ultimate goal is a solid running Overland vehicle.

I don’t plan to do much wheeling/mudding, just simply camping, fishing, and hunting. I’m back in forth on a simple Upcountry look vs a 3” lift. We shall see, first gotta get it running better and some kinks worked out.

I like the 3" lift on 31s. But as I mentioned, don't make the mistake of going with an AAL. Just save up for the full leaf packs. Its a big enough lift that you feel plenty capable without being so big you don't like driving it every day. I'll post some pics of the interior setup soon. I'm on Bed/Storage setup number 3 at this point and I think I finally have it dialed in about like I want it.

I’m hoping to get the new leaf springs installed today and ditch the rear sway bar while I’m at it. Apparently it should have been removed when I lifted it originally, but the AAL I’ve been running is basically back to stock height in the rear. Looking forward to seeing it at a proper stance again. I’ll post a couple of pics once the new leafs are on, and get some pics of the interior. Been holding off until I could get the new leafs out of the back. lol

Nice rig. I like the white XJs. Subbed.

Well, two days later the new leaf springs are finally buttoned up. The Jeep is sitting about 3in taller than it was with the AAL. I had my share of fun with this one for sure. I was fortunate enough to have to remove the hitch to get rear shackle bolts out, which of course required the bumper come off as well. Which was fine since the entire passenger side of the hitch had been mounted by my muffler shop using old hardware for some reason. 2 of those 3 bolts had to be cut off, and all new carriage bolt and plates had to be dropped in. The other bolt had been welded on and just snapped right off. The bolt on the front of the passenger side leaf was stripped and took 2 hours to get out. Then the hole needed to be retapped. And the rear bolt on the passenger side had to be cut off as well. It was a pretty brutal install. But it’s done and done right this go around.

crankcase position sensor help !!!

i replace my crankcase position sensor and the top bolt fell in the transmission housing ! i was shocked and upset. i could not see at first that there was a giant hole on the transmission above the crankcase position sensor . the bold disapeared like a quarter in a slot machine . i went online and realized i was not the only one. some said remove the starter or the bell housing cover and fish it out. to no avail i did not work.now i have an extremly loud noise coming from the transmission , bolt must be rubbing the smooth part of the flywheel , i will never get it out. now i have no choice but to sell vehicle in aucton , when i get time i will do a post and warn others on youtube.i would gave rather paid 50 bucks at a shop then have this horrible outcome

Just click the new thread button, but if you just have questions about some things it may be easier just to search the forums for threads that may have covered it already.
