Started the Jeep on fire...a couple times...lol Guess the diff left some residual oil in the frame rail over the years. Welded in a T-nut to fix the broken off nut. PB Blaster works ok to put out small fires.

Got in a short trail ride, it's a bit bumpier now as the leaf springs are so worn out there's only about 2" of up travel, but I can actually give it some gas over bumps and not scrape the fenders/cut n fold/tires to pieces. Most of the snow should be gone by the end of the week but the bigger piles are still quite solid.

Swapped the O2 last night, seems like the fuel trim is a bit better but still not always within +-10%...Old one didn't look to bad:

Went to hook up the power seat on the passenger side, thought might as well take the carpet out while I was at it...2 days later:

Founds a crap load of change, no wonder the shift to 2wd was sometimes difficult...Lol made a patch out of the old stock bumper, thinking I'll use seam sealer on the smaller holes.

rcguymike 04-24-2017 06:55 AM

Left the hole(s) over the frame rail open for now.

I admire your reactionary speed from discovery of the problem to resolution of said problem lol... I discovered the rusty floor in mine back in 2012.... 5 years later - still rusty.

I've known since last year when I sunk that corner in a puddle and the floor filled and drained faster than a solid piece of steel should...lol I think there are some holes in the rear too but I'm trying not to remember...for now. Got some fab work in the future and might tear it all down then.

Finished up one last section over the framerail last night as it's supposed to be freezing rain for the next couple days. Also added a drain plug that had fallen out of my rear lower rusty quarter panels.

Workin'

Why are people so neglectful...Are tire rotations really that hard...
Broke a 3/8th breaker bar, 3x 1/2->3/8ths adapters one of them was an impact adaptor on my milwaukee fuel impact, tried the wax trick, gratuitous amounts of PB over the course of 4 days and still don't have the stupid lugnut out.

Thinking I might grind a hex pattern on the extractor socket if I break another adapter...then I'm drilling the stud out.

rcguymike 05-18-2017 08:41 AM

Tried the ATF and ACETONE over the course of a couple days... no dice
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Zd...9nQ=w640-h0-no

Drilled that sucker out, had a few spare studs that I knocked out of old hubs and stuck that in, over the weekend wire wheeled and painted 2 and 3/4 sets of rims(ran out of paint) and got my first sunburn of the season...lol

Last night started working on finishing the brake job. Welder quit working part way through so took that apart and I think the motor connectors to the wire feed motor just had some corrosion, wiggled them off and back on and it started working. When I took the discs off the PO just had removed the parking brake assemblies all together and neglected everything else...

Wasn't any pad material on one of the pads on both sides! No wonder this thing sounded so nice while braking...lol One corner down 3 more to go.

rcguymike 05-22-2017 07:54 AM

Finally got out to go wheeling!

It's been a looooong time but finally got around to a wheelin' adventure with some friends. Only got stuck twice and broke a leaf spring wrap(maybe another leaf too, didn't bother looking too hard with all the mud) other than that was a successful trip! First time I got stuck I was trapped by a tree and a rut, 2nd time I backed down a hill into a hole against a tree...lol had to use the winch for the 2nd time I was stuck, it was one of those comical moments where if you'd had a locker you'd probably have been fine but passenger front and driver rear were completely flexed out next to a mostly flat trail.

On to the media(vids I'll have to add later):
This ravine was about 3 feet deep. I tried "skipping" across it but eventually got sucked in and made the spot to cross now uncrossable...lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/1U...DHY=w640-h0-noClick for full res
Not too muddy...yet

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/i2...MTs=w640-h0-noClick for full res
Passenger side was more in the goop.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/JU...lSA=w640-h0-noClick for full res
Then my friend started sticking nature to my Jeep...

Then we decided to find some new trails

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Np...Df4=w640-h0-noClick for full res
Then another friend said he could meet us but he was on the top side of the ravine, I got video of him coming down and then he wanted to try making it up, testing out his new 33" MTs.

That's the muddiest I've ever gotten a vehicle...luckily it's supposed to rain the next couple days so I get a free prewash before I get to really clean it.
