Ordered a Spicer centering ball yoke from quadratec, so that should be in in a few days. That should hopefully get rid of the angry gerbils I've got under there...
Started to cut off the "fangs" I had since I put the new bumper on. Plan on trying and getting the other side in a day or two. Still need to deburr and give a quick spray of paint.
So I've got somewhat of a stupid question I'm sure but here goes. So the AW4 is a 4 speed trans with overdrive. Is there any unnecessary stressed placed on anything (I am aware of how the engine will be staying at a higher rpm) if I manually shift it into 3rd to be able to maintain some power? The reason is ask is because I'm going to be moving from Minnesota to Florida for a couple of years and will be taking g this one down there. The last thing I want to do is overheat the tranny on the way down from shifting from 4th to 3rd, especially when I get farther south and hit a lot of long hills. I'm not going to keep it in third the whole way, only as much as I have to without beating the tranny between gears.

Not an issue. It's worse to keep the engine from changing between gears and high to low rpms. Driving through PA sometimes was awful over hills and I found it best to just put it on 3rd and keep the rpms constant when going up steep and long hills.

I'm heading up that way Saturday with a couple people. Was just their last Saturday with nsw4x4. it was a blast.
Yeah I'm looking forward to it, should be a good time. Probably gonna cut over to the Duluth area afterwards and find something to do over there as well.
On my way to work this morning and the Jeep had a rough idle and was coughing and hesitating really bad when trying accelerate. I already cleaned up the IAC, so I ordered a fuel pressure regulator from Napa so that should be here tomorrow morning. Tried mashing the gas just to see what it would do and once it got enough power it ran fine until it dropped into lower rpm's. After a couple of miles of driving it was fine.
After some thought I decided I would rather swap the TPS instead of the fuel pressure regulator. After that it idles better and has way better throttle response. Bought a fuel filter too just because, but haven't put it in yet. Probably going to get a catch can if some sort too since I'm getting a lot of blowby that's making its way to the intake manifold.
Started the Jeep this morning and it was doing the same thing with a lot of backfiring. Not quite as bad since I replaced the TPS though which was good. Asked my dad and he pointed out it seems to be happening after a rain so I should check the cap and rotor for moisture. Long story short I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor and now it runs more smoothly than ever. Sure enough there was moisture and corrosion on the cap and rotor, and the electrodes were pretty severely worn.
