Changed the gear oil in the rear. Man that stuff was nasty. Looks like it's been in there for 50,000. No metal flakes though, and both the ring and pinion looked good.

Quote: No still 31s. If I had some they'd be on my new one though. While they look cool, 35s are just too much for what I want to do, especially with 3:55s and stock axles. I really do like the grabbers though so if possible I'd like to get those, just smaller.

You wouldn't want to trade your 35s for some 33x10.5 bfg ko2s? I have 5 ones never seen the road.

Actually that'd be awesome. Those are the same tires I was looking to get.

I'd probably be willing to trade. I'd want to keep my wheels.

You guys have any good ways to mount a 33" spare? I don't want to mount it on the rack, and am sick of keeping it in the back of the Jeep. I would like to try and get it mounted in the back like a bumper mount, but aside from fabricating one the only thing I can find is A crazy expensive JCR off-road setup or the crappy smittybilt setup.

What do you mean oem spare carrier? The deal that mounts on the left side of your cargo area?

Like this. Makes other XJs look a little weird now being so used to mine.

Oh that's so cool! Didn't know they made those! I found the Detours off-road XJ tailbone but it says sales have been temporarily suspended for it...
On another note my brakes have been squeaking quite a bit lately so swapped the pads in the front this morning. I'm gonna need to get a centering ball yoke for the front driveshaft as well since that's been screaming on and off for a few weeks now. Greased it up and it helped a little but went back full force a few days later.

Haha someone hasn't checked my build thread. Mine didn't come with it from the factory, I added it over a year ago and it now holds my 33" spare nicely.

Guilty as charged lol. I probably have checked but usually I'm too lazy to read it from the beginning, and probably just assumed it was a different bumper. Where did you get it from?

Craigslist in central PA. Came off a Wagoneer XJ that was being parted out. Had to make my own quarter panel brace so the mount bolts wouldn't rip out and destroy the body.

Neat. I check Craigslist for "Jeep parts" in general and haven't come across anything like that. I have seen some pretty cool homemade bumpers though...
