Talking 93 jeep xj sport project help

im a mechanic and just bought a 93 jeep cherokee sport 4 door for dirt cheap. it was a one owner car that an old lady bought new in 93 and it was a grocery getter for her. the things i notice that are wrong is the paint is horrible which im getting fixxed tomorrow but the shocks are done and need to be replaced so i decided to go with a lift kit with shocks. any advice for a new jeep owner would be amazing!!! truck only has 112k on it and bought it for $1300!!!! haha no leaks or rust on the entire car and it looks like its never seen mud which is a shame!!! all and any help is greatly welcome!!

im looking at a 3' lift kit and wheels and tires.... this is a project car so cheap but quality is a must.

basically if i do a 3' lift what tires are recommened cheap/used and where can i purchase them??

im dan by the way

3 feet of lift is a little much if you ask me.

If I were you I'd buy a full 3" leaf pack, 3" coils and bilstein shocks.

Buy them all separately. Most shocks that come with the lift kits aren't that great and you'll be replacing them again next year.

The RC kit you're referring to comes with an Add a Leaf for the rear. If your factory springs are in decent shape these will work for a while. They'll sag over time.

It all comes down to home much you want to spend.

Shop Ebay and Serious Offroad.

i ment 3 inch lift kit not 3 feet... haha my fault on that

rear leaf springs are in great shape which is why i was looking at that kit. and i was going to upgrade to the premium 2.2 shocks but if you think they are crap then i will def take that into consideration!

the truck is going to be a daily driver with offroading on the weekeneds for camping etc.

i was looking on youtube for reviews on the RC kit and it seemed like a lot of people liked it BUT!!! i know forums are better for reviews on parts like this.

what about wheels and tires though?

thanks

I run stock aluminum wheels and 31x10.50r15s on my DD with a 3" lift with no rubbing anywhere.

This is it here to give you an idea of how it'll sit.

Different Jeep. Same lift and wheel/tire combo. This is actually a 93 with a late model front clip.

Im in the same boat Dboy15, im a heavy equipment mechanic with a 95 XJ with a 4.5 RC already installed. Picked it up with 140k for a steal at $1200. a little rusty but its a beater with a heater.

Unfortunately its got ABS and a Dana Turdy Five in the rear but craigslist can solve a lot of Parts issues. Already have a 93 XJ missing a front axle that i found really close for $200 with a 8.25, and found another 8.25 on craigslist with a driveshaft for $60.

A little bit of Over time to fund the DJEEP does wonders.

Its sits pretty well with a set of 30x9.50 Cooper ATRs but for what i do with it.

Stock Gearing, a rear locker, and 31s is all i have on my list until Mores Law sets in.

Good too follow your build and power to you! youve got a sharp XJ!

Id like to start a build thread as I learn and Modify aswell!
