I broke my rear axle yoke, over heated my battery due to a regulator issue, added some dents/scratches, and...

I ordered some Rock Krawler LCA mounts to replace the effed ones, and tracked down a used yoke. Hope to have all my issues figured out in the next couple weeks.

Sounds like a deal! There are a few other things that I will be working on threw the winter with it, so that will be perfect.

With a welder the possibilities are endless. Good plan on getting that first! I am happy with the Hobart 140. It has been great to learn on.

The Jeep has been back on the road for a week or so now. I put new u-joints in both ends of the rear drive shaft while I had it out to put a new yoke in. The RK lower control arm mounts are great piece of mind(sorry no pic worth posting yet), 1/4" construction and a skid.

Here is a poser shot from today(not me driving):

If anyone wants to join me the next time I go wheeling at Redbird SRA near Dugger, IN, check out THIS.

1/4" going slowly and on setting 4(the highest). I did weld some some 3/16" to 3/8" with great results so far, but I wouldn't recommend it and I added some grade 8 bolts to reduce the load on those welds. For both I used .035 flux.

if you lover your wire speed you should be able to weld even thicker. i did half inch on a 90 amp machine in 2 passes. i let it cool, drilled a hole in each peice that i had just welded, and tried to pulle it appart with a 454 chevy truck...needless to say...the truck laid some tire and the welds held. i ran it at the highest heat and hte wire speed turned down 3/4 the way.

One pull from a big truck isn't telling the full truth. Repeated abuse will likely cause those welds to fail(IMO). Most guys can take a punch, most guys can't take 20 punches. It weakens you.

That being said, if it works for you, it works for you.
Don't let this dude from the internetz keep you from being risky

Haha! Getting on these forums gets expensive even if they are free.

I had planned to gusset the stock axle-side lower control arm mounts, but they bent before I got to it. These are pretty expensive about $80. You could gusset and add a skid to the stockers for next to nothing. It would give you nearly the same result and be a ton less hassle.
