I feel your pain. I was right there too. Just get a pry bar and work it to move the motor in the right spot. You'll get there, keep it up! The hoist saved me doing it alone
This only happens on some of the 87-90 engine brackets. The one I had had no problems but my first Cherokee that I had in college was like this.
I always just grind a hair off the poly but you did this right by removing the metal
Thanks again
Andy

In the process of swapping in leaf packs that I got from HawK Racing. They will lower my rear around 2" or so. Just have to pick up and install new front eye bushings and I can put the Jeep back together. I never thought I would be excited about going lower, but my shackle boxes and those longer shackles just had my rear too high.

The leaf packs are on! I believe I ended up loosing around 3" of lift in the rear. I love the new stance, nice and low.

Also added a little more power.

The 2011 Hi Lift Customer Appreciation Event was awesome! I signed up to wheel with a moderate group and it was great! Beat on the Jeep all day long and had no real issues.

Found this medium sized Snapper in a mud pit. Glad I didn't hurt the lil guy.

Not me driving.

Huge thanks to Hi Lift for the free entry, food, and swag!

Recent Changes:
.Optima Yellow Top- lights are brighter, stereo sounds better, great all around!
.Switch to Turn on E. Fan for the trails- I am much cooler now....
?
.Removed Front Swaybar for good

Started the doorless mod. 1 down. I do not recommend a battery powered Dremil, it doesn't last very long. Glad to be borrowing the it.
The front tire is off b/c I am raising the axle side shock mounts 1.5" to gain that much droop. More Flexy!
Haspin Acres this weekend!!

Its a whole new rig without the doors!

Saving weight, adding visibility, increasing the fun in the Jeep, and on the cheap! Its a great mod. Not totally sure how I will feel about wheeling doorless. This weekend will tell.

Awesome! Thank you!
I made some more progress. Took the driver's side off with no trouble. When I went to install the new unit I found that the bracket on the motor was not allowing the bushing insert to line up with the hole. I decided to remove the bracket and to grind a little.
You can see the holes don't line up.

Before grinding.

After grinding.

All lined up!

I am now at a stand still, having a ton of trouble trying to get everything lined up and bolted down. Would be nice to have a hoist or a second guy. Myself and I have chosen to regroup with a beer and some couch time.

I had the same exact issue! Mines an 88 and wouldn't fit..took a file to the bushing and rounded the edge, and then ground off the lip to make it slide in...worked like a charm!

Heres how we did it, and a few more things that may help you!
Jack her up by the oil pna...put a 2x4 between the jack and the pan to help spread the load!
Put mounts on motor, and get the "through bolt" in and tightened hand tight. You wanna be able to move them.
Then set the passenger side in and put the nut on it loosely! We did it first since it was the harder side...
Then try and set the driver side in..ours was almost dead on, but I'm sure it'll need to be wiggled back and forth. We just rocked/pushed the motor to and fro and it dropped right in..
Once done tighten the them down..I believe the torque spec was 32lbs...don't remember but it was TOO tight. We had mad vibes...Before we backed them off the morriors we shaking lol...not good!
We backed them off a little and it was perfect, slight vibes but thats to be expected! Went back a few days later to check if they had loosened anymore and they were good, but we gave them another 1/4 turn each to make sure! We have very slight vibes...as in my 5 speed shifter shakes a little but thats it..no vibes in the pedal or the wheel.
Good luck man!

Thanks Graham!
Thanks for tips Kamaran, but the motor mounts have been in since June. I see I never posted an update on that. They are awesome compared to stock!
