I wouldnt say the 4L is a poor design. I mean its old as ****, but its damn near bulletproof and it makes good power considering the time period it is from. my main issue with it is the fact that both manifolds are on the same side.

if you have an AX15 manual trans, you could get a custom bellhousing or an adapter to mate it to the LSx so you dont have to change anything else out
