Oil pressure is reading a little high, I suspect. I say that because I believe the oil pressure sending unit is fault. I had it in my 2.5L and it read that high also... Doesn't move a lot when you rev the engine either. As for the alternator, it's fairly new. Still shiny lol.
I had the same thing. I changed the sending unit (and ended up changing guages too) because I didn't trust the reading. I get 30 at idle, and close to 50 driving. Not bad for a 24 yr. old motor.

The guy I bought my truck from didn't take care of it aesthetically, but he always changed the oil every 3000 miles. I do as well, and it comes out almost as clean as when it went in.

So you have a cherry bomb. Since you have two exhaust pipes, did you split the pipes after the CB?

No, it's a single pipe in and dual pipes out. Here's the diagram:

Cool!! I've never seen one with two outlets before. One of the down sides of living in a tropical country, I guess.

I'd have to guess that Cherry bombs are much more durable than they used to be. Back when I was young, they'd burn out after a couple of months.

Got a lot of odds and ends taken care of since the last post... Stayed out in the garage till 1:00 AM last night to get stuff ready for today's test drive...

I am excited to say, my Comanche has new life and can now move under its own power!

I filled the AX15 with Redline MT-90 and got the 242 filled with Dex/Merc. The drive shaft was taken to Fleet Pride this past Tuesday to get shortened. Eveything works with exception of a very important gauge... the fuel gauge. Damn thing is stuck on 'E'. Not sure if it's the float or the potentiometer. But with that said, I've been extremely lucky thus far that everything has went as smooth and successfully as it has. Still sucks that I have to drop the tank again.

Congratulations!
It's great to hear that's the only PITA you've got left to resolve.

When all is said and done, dropping the tank is only a couple of hours or so, so you can say the swap is pretty much done.

What's next? Paint? Mods?

Interior is next on the list... Right now, I have half gray and half tan interior. Going to swap everything to gray or paint the plastic trim gray... Going to put in bucket seats to replace the bench and install a center console and carpet. Paint the hood, finish painting the rims, fog lights, etc. Rear disc brakes later on too when the funds are there. Also got to finish getting the front axle hooked up for 4WD.

Good news! The gas gauge works fine... It was just really low on fuel. I had 4 gallons in there and being a 16 gal tank, I would have though that would mean a quarter tank, but noooo... So, filling her up this morning indicated that it was user error lol. However, even with that 4 gallons in there, I still put 15 gallons of gas in it.

Oh and the cruise control because at the moment, it doesn't work... Not a big deal right now though.

Had a bit of a scare today... went to go bring back my buddy's cherry picker and make a quick junkyard run and the truck wouldn't start... After testing the CPS, I determined it was bad (putting out only 0.3 VAC) so I got a new one for $33 and stuck it on. I don't know why it died all of a sudden, but it did.

So, it's been 2 weeks and so far, so good. Painted the passenger side rims black to match the other two, cleaned the chrome trim rings and painted the hood to match the rest of the truck. Other than that, just driving her to and from work and running errands.

do you know is it possible to change the bell housing on the 4 speed from the 2.5 4 cylinder to fit on a 4.0 6 cylinder?

No, it is not possible. You wouldn't want to do that anyway because the AX4 and AX5 that are found behind the 2.5L will not last long behind a 4.0L. Those are light duty transmissions and the torque of a 4.0L will eat them for breakfast.
