2wd to 4wd Surgery
OK well I have been doing some research into turning my 2wd to a 4wd..A lot of the credit goes to Overlandxj and Mrjack..anyways..I'm finally starting on it today.This is a learn as I go experience so bear with me..lol shall we begin?

Don't worry I only used the high lift Jack to sit it on blocks ..didn't actually climb under there with it ..lol

Ill continue with the surgery in a couple of hours cuz its hot as hell out there ..but here is a pic of my xj that will have the parts installed

Didn't really get to do too much cuz it got dark on me...didn't finish removing the transmission ..by the way how many bolts are on the top of the transmission ..I'm having a hard time ..

I assume youve unbolted the motor mounts and any hoses to tilt the engine back enough to reach the top bolts? manual or auto?
why are you even swapping the trans?

Oh and yeah all hoses are disconnected along with all the bottom bolts to make it tilt ..it was just too dark too see anymore..oh and its auto

Those two top bolts on bellhousing are an E-12 external torx head. You need a special socket to get them off. Sears and the like have them..
And yes.. you MUST use a 4wd transmission. The output shafts are different lengths.
Lower the crossmember a bit, it'll give you better access to the top bolts. You'll need all your ratchet extensions to reach up there.

Aha I knew it!!lol thanks for confirming that overlandxj..oh and as far as the sockets I need ..around how much r they ..
