2001 XJ "Refresh"
My '01 XJ sport was worked over a few years back and has served well as a part time trail rig and full time DD, but has been neglected. Now its time for a facelift and refurb. Currently:
Front:
Teraflex long arm lowers, adjustable short uppers
Skyjacker 6.5" coils
Crappy hydro shocks
Rear:
RE 4.5" leaf packs, 1.25" shackles over a ford 8.8 (3 years old)
Crappy hydro shocks
All running on 33x12.5x15 BFG A/T's, Rusty's fender flares (well, 3 at least). Also have JCROffroad bumper and rock rails that need to be touched up.
The plan is:
Add a 1" puck up front (currently run no isolator and it sucks).
Add a 1.5" block out back to level the rig.
New RE Monotube shocks front & rear, brake job, full fluid and filter service.
New (to me) bushwacker flares.
New tires (got some Trxus MT's!)
Touch-up paint, etc rust spots.
New door hinges (check out the sag...)
New mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust cat back (Flowmaster 50-suv).
All in all it should be a much better looking and performing rig. Here are my before pics. I am hoping to have it "done" in about a week and a half. Then start saving pennies for my full long arm front susp and probably new leafs to get rid of the old ones and blocks...and maybe a hi-steer.
(obviously missing a flare...)
Front tires are past their expiration date and have worn uneven due to misalignment (plan to tweak as well).
New tires in the back of my wife's ZJ:
Door sag: the joys of living on a dirt road and having no inner fenders.
Lots of fluids:
I will post progress as well as "finished" pics...wish me luck. All my take-offs will be available after the project is complete at discounted prices! Look for a for-sale post soon.

The flares have proven to crack and break when hit by tires, or pushed against hard. Overall they have not been too bad. I see Rusty's also has some newer "flex" flares ou that are super soft and bendable, so those might be worth a shot. Here is my Rusty's flare compared to a Bushwacker...I wanted the longer flare (2" wider) for my tires. There is a lot more coverage. I also plan on replacing the sheet-metal bolts bushwacker uses with stainless machine screws with nuts on the back so there is no doubt...
I put the fronts on last night and they look great. Hopefully get the rears on tonight or tomorrow night.

For bolts I am looking for something like McMaster Carr #92949a269 ($11.98 for 100, stainless steel button head cap screw, #10-32 x 0.75" long). Then getting matching stainless washers and jam nuts for the inside of the fender well. For about $20 total I will have 10x better attachment. More to follow...I am going to Menards tonight.
