The previous owner of this combination ran it in a Wrangler ( heavier and less aero dynamic) with 33's and insisted that he NEVER got less than 35 MPG.
I will be thrilled with 35 MPG if that happens , I will be posting that info when I get there.

Also did final fit and painted - rattle canned - the re-fabbed Clayton crossmember,
So the clayton crossmember is a great mount. I had to change the mounting configuration because this transmission is from a 2006 Wrangller, it is the 6SPD.
I used about half of the stock transmission mount that bolted to the bottom of the trans,,and welded on some isolating mounts to the outter edges. Those mounts are sleeved and accept a 1/2 inch bolt.

Made progress again!
Dropped off the drive shaft to be shortened a couple of days ago, I am going to get it running using the stock driveshaft set up for awhile because of the 231 transfer case that it came with ,,I tried to order a slip yoke eliminator and found they do not make one for a 231,, so I am now on the hunt for a 241.
Finished up the welding and painting of the block off plate that was needed for the return oil line from the turbo to the oil pan. gotta post a pic to explain that one.
Started thinking mostly, and making a bracket for the throttle linkage.
Stared at the Jeeps' underside for awhile, figuring where to mount the fuel pump, how to run the lines and fuel filter, got a plan going.
Measured the caster angle on the newly installed Clayton 6.5 lift. I have about 4 degrees, so gotta take those joints down and do a little adjusting. I am planning on 6/7 degrees.
After a trip to Marshals Industrial Hardware, for several misc metric and standard grade 8 bolts I needed,, I Finished bolting up mounting the rebuilt power steering box. With the new bumper and all the plating that was done I needed 1/2 inch longer bolts.

Well I am at a point of figuring out the fuel system, kinda kicking my butt, I will get-ter done but I do not like this part.
Gotta make a brackets to mount the inline fuel pump and the fuel filter,,the location is one of the biggest head aches. Then gotta figure out how to mate the existing line to the inline pump I am using, gotta take it somewhere and have the fittings soldered on.
AND,,,gotta take out the "in tank electric fuel pump" and make it so it is just a pick up line,,,I think I am just going to make the hard line extend to the bottom of the tank.
After this part of the project is done, it will feel like everything else is downhill/easy!

I ordered some steel front fenders tubed and flared from Dirtbound Offroad,,,near the first of April, I have not received them yet (over 2 months since placing the order). I did get an e-mail note from them saying they were in the middle of a move to a different state and it went something like this,, " Don't worry if we took your money you will get your order,,soon, but we are not taking anymore orders till we get moved,,etc.
Any one else have this experience?
Anyone else have a good or bad experience with Dirt Bound Off Road in general with a purchase before their move?

Used compression fittings on the 5/16's line where I spliced into the factory delivery line.
The fuel pump is from a 2000 Ford Excursion. More than enough pressure and delivery for the little 3.3 Cummins diesel.

Well, all the info I read and all the people I talked to were/was wrong.
I was supposed to have an "in-tank" fuel pump that was the factory original set up. And that pump was not going to have enough fuel delivery or pressure to handle the new Cummins.
So, I needed to eliminate that in-tank pump since I was using a in line pump. I did not want the in line pump pulling through a smaller pump. Or using two pumps when it was not needed, (something else to fail).
I turned the quarter turn lock ring easily enough after a bit of cleaning, and out came the pick up and level indicator,,, only to find there was never a in-tank pump installed. Good news really, I just put it back in place without any modifications.
