[QUOTE=gunmetal_nightrider;3095909]Im assuming the grease for your lift is for greasable shackles? I used some Sta-lube from harbour freight. Read the specs on the back and it is perfecr for u joints and axle shafts. My zone lift did not specify grease type either but with the zerk fitting on my shackles i was limited to what i had on hand.

Thank you for your advice, that is exactly what I was talking about. I'm going to have to make a trip to harbour freight.

I am finally getting closer to being able to lift my car. I am just waiting on money for the tires, and I need to order my SYE and wheels also. The only thing I am worried about is making the 3 ton jack stands I have work. Is it possible? I think the max height is 16 inches or should I just go to harbor freight and buy some 6 ton jack stands?

pb blast the hell out of everything. be sure you get the spring bolts a lot. spray down every couple days until you do your lift.

when taking out those spring eye bolts you may have to loosen some, pb blast, tighten some, loosen some, pb blast, tighten some, then loosen again..etc..etc..etc. till they are out. don't rush things. jeep loos clean so it may not be an issue.

as for the jack stands.. the higher you can get the jeep the better (within reason..lol)

just did a RE 3.5" lift a few months ago.. nice kit.. up front i got just about exactly 3.5" of lift out of it. the rear i got a little bit more..

oh one more thing.. its a perfect time to do the ZJ steering upgrade while you are under there. its gonna need an alignment anyway so may as well do it while you are doing the lift..

all the parts only come to about $100.

Good to know about all those steering parts on amazon. not a bad deal, but it would be cheaper to get them from a junkyard

I guess if you want unknown used parts as part of your steering system. . I won't use used wearable front end parts unless I personally know how used they are. Got it apart ya may as well put it back together right the first time.

I agree. The junkyard will be cheaper; but only by half. I suggest getting new parts when you are updating steering components. It's not that much more expensive and you will have the added confidence that you have new parts to start with.

true, might as well get new parts, the tie rod itself might be fine to get from a junkyard as long as you could find one thats not bent.. but i really like your jeep man, nice and clean, looking forward to seeing this build continue. i just got a new jeep a few days ago and im ready to start building it!

its not like a stock xj one, the tie rod has a wearable end on it. so i wouldn't do that.

top is the stock one. bottom is the upgrade

Thanks man it is really slow but I am so close to having all of the parts. I just need to get it done before I leave to go back to school. I saw your build thread and I am so glad I did because sometimes my windows do exactly what yours were doing and now I have a solution for it.

well im glad i could help with the window problem! theres many ways to do it, just pop open the cover near the hood latch and theres the connector with the 3 wires. in whatever manner you want just jump the yellow and tan wires together to short out the switch! cant wait to see how you lift turns out, im still debating on what lift i want to run.

I don't want to deal with tearing down the T case so I am going with the Rubicon express hack n' tap and I'm going to go with their CV driveshaft also.
