Something i havent seen and cant find is vehicle rental programs. I was thinking pick up a couple used jeeps and fir them with some minor modifications so people who drive cars or fear destroying their own suv can come and experience what we off-roaders like to do. Think of it as an actual rental car so you can thrash it like you would a normal rental. Cause we all do.
What do you want to see at a park of this nature? leave nothing out.

a grocery/supply store would be great to have along with like a little diner type thing where you can get sandwiches burgers etc etc. A washing station for anyone who wants to de mud before heading home.

i do plan to have trail guides/ recovery employes/ patrollers. guys with rigs and winches and the wisdom to use them. Where im torn is if i want to charge a wee bit extra for the the recovery or maybe some kinds of recovery. if you are in the mud no charge, if you are rolled over charge something. I will offer a limited range tow service for vehicles that are to damaged to make it home that dont get fixed at the on site shop. And by tow service i mean ill hook up your rig up to my trailer and my 2500 ram and take it where you want it, within reason.

You will already be making a bit of money as it is. Keep it pretty simple. Have a small store with supplies ranging from camping stuff, spare parts, used tires, food etc...etc....Have a mechanic available for work and good stuff like that. Anything offered free would be more of a inspiration to make it to your park.
I say have someone their to pull people out of the mud for free. It's not really that hard to hook up a winch and pull. Now if they rolled that's a different story.
Or just include recovery for $5-10 bucks more a day.
I know it's nice to charge for everything but it will not be much of a inspiration for people to come visit.
Especially if they are traveling from a different state and/or on a low budget

I know I really appreciate well marked trails with difficulty levels. Turkey Bay on Land between the Lakes has a downloadable map as well as hand them out at the park and the trails are actually clearly marked so easy to follow.

I'm 'New' to 4x4'n and have been looking for a group/park here in OH to try. REALLY liking what your thinking of doing, and I would be willing to do $50 a weekend including camping.
Don't know if this will help, but a couple RV parks in the area we visit (we have a RV and tent camp) go for $35 a day with full hook-up (water, sewer, electric) and the parks offer a playground, swimming pool, stock pond for fishing (catch and release) and some minor trails for foot hiking/biking. And a small general store with some of the items you may forget/run out of....TP, matches, some drinks, hotdogs, fire wood, ect.

Hearing all this has given me tons of ideas for the park. and now the loacation is on for the park. Years from now i plan to have it up and running. I am location hunting as the land i have will not work. Also the looking for the finances.
As for you xj740, there are a couple here in ohio that are decent enough.

Talk to local clubs about helping put the trails in. You won't be able to cut all the trails yourself, WAY too labor intensive. But a good, active 4x4 club will be plenty willing to help out for steep discounts and club-only free pass days.

completely agree. Lots of clubs are just itching for the opportunity. They would even do maintenance and possibly able to help with recoverys and such. They would adopt YOUR trail system and keep it going.
A compitition course would also be nice! IMO it would raise attention to your course and bring in some dough. I know there is an off road raceing circuit out there, i can't remember the name. Maybe you could get in on that. Just trying to throw some ideas around. And gettin a club to "sponser" your course would be a GREAT idea and speed up opening date. BEST OF LUCK

charge 35-40 to ride plus 5 per passanger with the min. of 2 vehicles per group....once you get going build a comp course with rocks....and eventually try to hook up with 4wd.com and some local shops(fabricators, mechanics, etc.) have them try to sponsor rock crawling comps in the future like quadratec does with rausch creek in pa....good luck....also dont know how far you are from rausch but should take a ride out to see they are layed out
