I think some of us should get together and rent a house in the 4x4 area of Carova Beach. Off season rates are as low as $700 per week (7 nights) for 4 bedrooms. Split that three ways or more and it's cheap.
Some houses can be rented for just 3 or 4 days at $120 per night.
Here is one house; http://www.vrbo.com/422639

Flexing, right front shocks still had about 3" more travel but the bumpstop was bottomed out and the tire bending the fender.

Sweet!
Might be time to fine tune the suspension. One hockey puck as bump stop may be enough to keep the tire off sheetmetal. On a hard hit those Daystar extended bumps will compress or fold over.
BPE, bar pin eliminators will take up some of the remaining up-travel in shocks and will allow more droop.

Hey guys not new to the area been here for a while and posted a few times but it was a few years ago. On deployment for another month then I have a pile of parts to throw at the jeep. Long arms, axles, most of the suspension, etc. Live in Hampton now and looking to take a few trips to the beach this summer. Never been down that way so it would be cool to take the woman and kids to do some camping. Hope to meet some people this summer and help out with jeep mods!

I study gofast jeeps for ideas. Here on the beach there are dozens of jumps and can hit speeds of 55 mph (jumps I hit at 25).
Wheeling on the outer banks in summer is very limited, but can still cruz the beach and a few backwoods trails.

Welcome! 1996 model seems to be popular.
As I have mentioned to others, I live on Hatteras Island year-round (from Norfolk). Hit me up for wheeling spots, camping or whatever.

By go fast, I meant fast cars. I had a 91 300zx track car, and now I daily a SRT4. I want to get another track car but 3 vehicles is a little too much for a college student.

Cool been wanting to make a trip down to OBX with the family. Looking at a Fleetwood neon now. Little tiny pop up. Plan is to buy land in OBX eventually.

Another quick question: Where does one buy steel for bumpers/ fixing my trailer in Hampton area?

I cannot remember the name of steel supplier, but they are numerous in Norfolk/VB.
Try the yellow pages (the book), I see 12 steel distributors.
