I did it on a TJ and left the carrier in, but like I said, it's a PITA. I would definitely pull it.

I'm going to pull it I have looked at a few write-ups and videos and it seems like that's the way to go.

If you doing a lock right locker in a d30 you pull the carrier out and take the ring gear off to get the pin out. Its a lot easier then people make it out to be. Hell I'll be putting mine e back In soon just been kinda to lazy to do it and I'm in the middle of a heart transplant lol

Matt, I'm hoping to join you on the COTM calender. It's voting time for April!
I'm up against the vice president of NAXJA (yellow XJ). What's up with that?

You got my vote. Not a fan of yellow XJ's. Love the Patriot Blue though. Good luck!

Alright folks, I am finally at a point where I feel comfortable showing a quick before and after photo for you. Thanks to you guys in this thread and the many others on this forum I have made a lot of progress. So here it goes. I would like to meet some of you and learn a thing or two about xj's. Anytime any of you may want to grab a beer or something feel free to let me now.

List of accomplishments:

New windshield (bought it with a leaky/cracked one)
New Front seats
New carpet
Flushed and replaced all fluids including front and rear diff.
Aux fan toggle switch (due to it not wanting to work as intended)
3.5" Rubicon Express Super Ride lift kit with new leafs
31x10.5x15 Definity Dakota A/T2 on pro comp wheels (which needed major polishing)
Removed ugly purple tint (you can see it in photos) as well as tiny pointless mudflaps
Rubicon Express adjustable track bar
All new front end i.e. tie rod bar, ends, drag link, etc.
Cleaned the hell out of the interior with degreaser
New neutral safety switch
New CPS

The list goes on but you get the point. There has been blood, there has been tears, but in the end it was all worth it. I love this big red sled.

My nephew is in the Navy down in Va beach. He has a Cherokee and is preparing to get some work done to it.
Big question.. Who's a reputable mechanic in that area? He's got a kid and one on the way. Or else he'd do the work. Thanks guys!

He has developed a knock and the suspension is crap. All stock! I talked him out of getting rid of it and getting a Wrangler.

He's gonna be looking to put a lift in it also.

If the knock isn't too bad it could just be a bent push-rod or a lifter spring going bad. Lists are generally pretty easy depending on what he gets. Have him shoot me a PM and I can help him out once I have more details.

He doesn't have an account on here. Stubborn! Haahaa! I don't know if he's gonna wait until he has a month off in July and try to convince him to bring it up here. If ya have a Facebook account I can pm you his name. Thanks!

Sorry I missed this but your rig looks great! Check out hrjc.org for the biggest jeep club in the south side. There's a handful of us there. But we should plan a meet and greet again.
