Are the doors severely rusted or is it just surface rust?

This is the drover's side door. But the passenger one isn't too bad.

The passenger isn't bad. First one is passenger but the drivers is a bit worse off.

Which axle is it for? And do you know the gear ratio that was on the carrier?

Its for a Dana 30, it was in the front axle of another xj but the motor blew so it was being parted out. I only wanted the locker but when I picked it up it was all together mew bearings and all. I don't know the gear ratio of it

You need to either find that (the gear ratio) out or just use your current carrier then. Once you go to 3.73's or lower a different carrier is used. My suggestion is to just use your current one, that way there are zero doubts about it being the correct one for your current gear set up.

I understand the carrier will have to come out anyway to install a lunchbox in the dana30.

You don't have to, but it certainly makes life easier. I would recommend pulling it.

I haven't done it in the D30 yet, just researched it. Seems the roll-pin is the issue. In write-ups the ring gear has to be removed to be able to punch out the pin. Seemed like the only way?
