I constantly worked on my CJ's, I had 3 in a row with the 72 SBC powered CJ-5 being my last. I like the way a XJ/MJ wheels better than the way a CJ wheels. Plus XJ's are cheap and disposable.

As for the jy thing, every junkyard i've been in (parts unlimited, star city, a g's,all had more then a few xj's.

Are either star city or parts unlimited pick n pulls? I've heard of both of them, but not been to either.

The only pick and pull near Roanoke is Cunningham's in Rustburg

Bahh I figured, I heard from my trainer/supervisor at work that old dominion is switching over to be a pick n save though? Who knows, guess we'll find out when it happens right?

Last couple times I've been to cunningham's their xj selection has been lacking. I think there were only 2 or 3 last time I was there. At least they're semi-close though

sorry to revive an old thread but when I'm in cunningham's in rustburg I trip over all their XJs so I'm confused where you were looking, you said 2 or 3 and I thought maybe in one row haha

When I go up they usually have 10-15 on hand. Old Dominion is switching over to a pick and pull

Maybe it is just around me.. but you can find someone elses fiberglass project that needs finishing for under 2500, which is the only way I would own a cj.

Also keep in mind that if you plan on building one from scratch you are more then liely better off by starting with a chevy/ford/jeep parts rig for drivetrain.. by a set of frame rails, and a glass or aluminum tub

For that matter why not just modify a TJ to look like a cj
