Hey guys, just picked up my first XJ about a month ago and was looking to see if y'all get together for meet & greets/wheeling/etc in the NOVA area. I'm based out of Gainesville and work in Alexandria.

It's good to hear from some new people getting into the sport. Welcome, I've been building my Cherokee and off roading for two years now. It's been awhile since someone put together a meet and greet on here. This past weekend was the BigDogsOffRoad Summer Slam at the Cove Campground. I'll post a couple of pics of that, there were about 80 rigs I think. I'm also in the process of joining a local club called OCC (Off Camber Crawlers) who do many off road events throughout the area and year.

Thanks, glad to know there are some locations that are relatively close to home. Do you think a stock XJ would have an issues?

Looks like an awesome event, thanks for sharing! I am looking to get into wheeling (gradually...as my rig is also my DD - lost my previous rig in a flash flood) and would definitely be all for a meet & greet.
I was looking at the OCC club as well - thinking about taking their 101 course in addition to joining. Trying to get my feet wet and sounds like a good start.

I was one of the "students" this year in OCCs 101/201 class. There were probably about thirty rigs; club members and students. Fun and informative.
OCC has a great event next weekend, 31st, for stock vehicles, 4wheeling in the George Washington National Forest. Every event that I've attended, whether BigDogs or OCC, you have a choice of what level of trails you would like to run. My first time off roading was at the Cove at a BigDogs event. I participated in the Friday "night run" which ran "trickle" a level 6 trail. At that time my Cherokee was stock but had the "up country" package. A couple of dents and scratches and a whole lot of fun.

I have never posted here before, but have always been looking for help with my XJ, and Thanks to all that reply.
AS stated that there is a new place right here in the area where you can wheel every weekend called "Red Cloud Off Road Park" Just follow this link for more info and to sign up.

WE have been open since May this year and run trails every weekend, either on Sat or Sunday. And even have some night runs coming up soon.
So sign up and come on out for a day of fun, just down the road from you.

All: Just got a 2000 Cherokee Sport. I would appreciate any recommendations you have for names of good mechanic shops in NOVA for it. Want someone who knows the Cherokee. Fairfax to Alexandria to Lorton area best. Could do Manassas too. Thank you so much.
