Probably not terribly likely... Its possible, but my advice would be for him to come to the Meet and Greet and meet Jon first... rear axle swap probably wouldn't take but... an hour... but Jon is not really cool with random people using his shop. Since he really doesn't know you very well, and doesn't know USMC jeeper at all, I would say he might let you, but would probably charge you to use the shop.

Pull Driveshaft
disconnect brakes
unbolt shocks at axle
remove u bolts
slide axle out on jack
throw axle
slide axle in on jack, bol
attach u bolts
attach brakes
attach shocks
bolt up driveshaft

Drive off? What came to mind in order for that swap, but I believe it would be important to make sure you have the 8.25 driveshaft also... not even sure if it will work with a 242... might have to replace that yoke also.

Lets start throwing dates together for a wheeling/camping trip in Nov. One last overnight run before it closes up for winter. Post up some available dates or try to make the meet on the 16th. Alot will go on during the meet and what to expect further down the road.

Need to build a jeep tent of some kind before then...
Heres my thoughts so far...

Going to measure the rear area of the jeep with seats folded down, then add about 2 feet... thinking just a simple piece of plywood cut to length of the rear, with hinges to allow an extra 2 foot section to fold out when necessary.

Not sure how I would enclose the area from the elements though...

Any ideas?

Well, either this or buy a jeep tent... but rather sleep in the back... Takes up less space, and takes minimal time to setup, pretty sure it would be warmer too.

I'll prob set up camp in mine. Take out backseat before the the trip. Easy set up, easy clean up, easy period.
Eric, you gonna trailer yours up there?

Definately. Looked into removing the back, remove the fold up (asspad) and slide the passenger seat all the way forward and they say its doable...

Not saying for sure I will be there whenever you guys go in November though.

Probably still make a wooden insert, I cut the carpet/padding out of the cargo section of my XJ.

Problem with towing it is I have a trailer but I don't have a truck, so I gotta get someone else, so figure 2 extra people. Means I have to bring a back seat with me, and just take it out when I am wanting to camp.

Ha, well if Jake comes, more than likely Brandy will come, and they won't ride seperate, and would probably want to ride with me...

Need to clean out my jeep completely and try to take measurements.

Figure I will have a cooler, Sleeping Bag, Toolbox, Chairs, etc... In my jeep.

In the back of my jeep currently I have...
Toolbox
Winch/Reciever Mount and cables, they get in the way.
Small Aluminum Jack
Random Straps
Battery Box with my stash of Fluids
Need to build a box or something to store my junk in.... Im bored as hell and suddenly have the urge to build things.

Any ideas how to get an exact fit piece of wood cut for the rear of the XJ?
Im thinking getting cardboard and shoving it in, marking it and then laying it over a piece of wood... If there is an easier way though Im all ears.

Cardboard sounds the easiest. BTW, how's that ankle treating you? If you want, I'll come around and bull**** with you awhile. Jon wants a set of those D-ring mounts anyway.

Project Meyham took his seats out and put a truck box, gullwing style. It fit right in place where the asspad was. Very nice and almost lays flat from hatch to the back of the front seating area. But I'm digging Kevins false floor idea. It looked real clean this past weekend.
