so far, the only good things that came out of hurrican Irene were that we got some NICE waves (8-10 ft) and the jeep got a free car wash!

True. How was OI yesterday?? I surfed there Thursday and it was nice! 6-7 ft and glassy. Went to tower break (OIB) afterward and it was half that size. OI being south facing was catching the swell perfectly
Yesterday I hit the pier at OIB and it was decent size but washey. I wanted to hit OI again but heard it was shut down unless you lived there... Any Damage? I'm working there again next week on Dolphin St.

No serious damage as far as I know. Basically, just wind damage so a lot of limbs and leaves everywhere.
The better waves came in sets, but a lot of them were blowouts. lol. some kids got pictures of waves as tall as the pier, they were the exciting ones to watch, haha.

I am glad to see as many good reports as there are. I know that there has to be a lot of folks hurting along the coasts of NC & VA. Never in my life have I seen a hurricane park it’s self off of a coast like it did. Has anyone heard about any members here organizing volunteer groups to head to the coast? I can probably squeeze a few more days of hard labor out of this ragged ole body of mine.

As for coming down to help... where I am at damage was minimal at best... Heck I have seen more storm damage from thunderstorms

Not too bad here, just a section of fence and our gate need replaced. Just waiting for the concrete to finish setting before I hang the fence paneling. Lots of others though have much more damage, so I'm incredibly thankful.
