I work for the USDA as a forest officer... stop freaking out guys... certain trail may not re-open but all the hunters access trails will remain open in the fall.. about 30% of summer access trails will go away.
but we make money off all hunting and fishing access roads as well as the the northen VA jeep/atv trail.

the southern jeep trails off Coal RD ECT according to MY report would cost more to close than to leave open.

Thank you for posting this! Like I said, nothing is closed yet. Shoe Creek/Crabtree and Stony Run are huge tourist and hunting areas so I don't see those going away anytime soon

Right now, everything is still open that has been open for the past couple of years. Nothing new has closed down. Like I said earlier, best thing to do is write to our reps here in VA and 1. thank them for keeping it open to us, and 2. asking them to continue that.

well, not everything is open. this past summer, we drove down to natural bridge area and all of the etrances were closed. the one off of rt. 60, and 2 through 131. since then my buddy went back one more time and they were still gated.

Didn't realize they closed the natural bridge area. I went in the fall and it was open. Kinda weird.

AS STATED ABOVE!
the gates your talking about arent technically open for jeeps... they are for hunting access
so they are opened around aug 16th and closed in late april (after turkey season)

my scanner is not working at the moment and it wouldnt matter because i only have trail openings for 2010 but these were published and sent out on feb 16 2010 so i would expect an updated form around that time guys

if ANYONE wants to know which trails are open in the GWNF shoot me a PM with your location and i can tell you which ones in your area are open. and after about feb 20th im sure ill have an updated list

Thanks for your help as although it looks like some are not understanding you. I have tried to look up the Rangers Station for the Pedlar Mills / Glenwood area. Seems that the website is experiencing some sort of problem because it says its down right now, has been for a while... Hopefully it will be up soon. I was going to post it so some could see the maps and areas for themselves or email a Ranger.
