Default Trails next to new york?

Hey everybody.
I just bought my first jeep and I love it. I bought it mostly so I can get out into the nature. Can anyone tell me of any scenic trails? unpaved road? Basically something challenging, but somewhere where my stock jeep can go?
Thanks.

Get a ny gazeteer and go upstate. The Catskills have enough to keep you busy for a couple weekends, go to the adks if you want more. There's stuff in mass too (apparently a lot) but the off road clubs keep those secrets tight as hell. The gazeteer will tell you what roads are dirt/unimproved, but be ready for locked gates and dead ends. Been two years since I really explored up there.. I was there for school. Nothing on the island, you can try the pine barrens in jersey but stay out of the mud and water! Then there's Rausch creek in PA... That's a PA, Google it.

There's an NYC Jeep club here on CF and they go to Rauch Creek, PA every month or so. They know the spots around the city and they know Jeeps. Look them up. Where are you in the city? Me: The Heights! Welcome to the forum & Jeep life!

Unmaintained roads. They're there, you have to look.
