Cool Storm Prep!

Who's prepping their Jeep/house for the storm next week? Post your set ups here!

Right now I'm beginning to get stuff ready in my trunk in case there is an emergency that would require either my family or I to leave our house. We live near the Raritan River and the area beside us has been in 5-15 feet of flood water after last summer's tropical storm. I have a lot of friends in this area I care about too.

Here's what I have in my trunk:
-Large black locking storage container
-Tow hooks
-Trailer hitch ball
-Tow strap
-Breaker bar
-Socket set
-Grease, lubricants
-Gallon jug of water
-Hayne's Manual
-Atlas/maps
-Batteries
-Large Flashlight
-Ice scraper
-3 lb. Dead-blow hammer
-Machete
-Zip ties
-Flint&Steel
-Safety goggles
-Extra sweat shirt

And some other stuff...

As for tomorrow afternoon I will be topping off the gas tank, checking tire pressure, and putting the beast into 4HI We'll see how well my tires really work.

I take myself as a total noob towards survival but I think this is a pretty good start as for being prepared out on the road. I also think I may switch my CAI back to my stock intake just for water sake. My dad is an insurance manager and he says this is something worse than the perfect storm that's coming... Hope you guys all stay safe

Post some pictures of the carnage this week if you have power!

Doesn't look good here at all. We might get a direct hit here.

Stay safe man. Last October's snow storm we had trees falling in our neighborhood left and right. I can't imagine what these winds are going to do to the trees with leaves still on them

Only a gallon of water, no food, and no first aid kit?

Some wet weather gear might also be advisable.

I have plenty of propane to use for cooking. Some water, I'm in a good spot when it comes to flooding and all the trees are clear of my house so I should be ok.

You do realize your vehicle and all it's belongings will be useless in 5 feet of water.

You should take your family to a friends house on higher ground Sunday night.

p.s. Our gas stations have lines of cars now, how much gas will be left Sunday?

That water was for the engine lol. As for water/food I have a bag of stuff I can just throw in the back. First aid kit is a really good idea though

I gathered plenty of propane for cooking and can use it to fuel some lanterns if the power goes out (which it likely will) and the batteries get drained. Also topped off the tank on the Jeep. Going to all the stores you were lucky to see a single crumb of bread, piece of eggshell, or drop of milk. I try to prepare for these things, but I'd swear people live off of water and French Toast when a storm rolls through.

I should have been more specific lol. Our house is up and out of the way of the river, but if you travel down the road and try to get anywhere on the right side of town, that will be underwater. Our house is about 150 feet from our brook which usually rises eight to ten feet during a storm so it turns into a lake haha.

Tank is all filled, no one was at the gas station tonight. Also got our chainsaw ready and in the trunk. One of the more important reasons why my dad and I would have to go out in the Jeep was if my grandparents lost power and we had to go pick them up (they live about thirty minutes away)

I haven't really done anything for prep for this storm but if it hits ct like its supposed to I don't think it will matter how I prep, we'll see for sure once it does hit though, stay safe everyone and don't do anything I would do.
