I had the same thing happen. Blew out a u joint which took out the ears on the yoke. If you dont have a good impact gun be prepared to bust a nut on that pinion nut haha.

They're not too bad really. The yoke isn't pressed on at all so once you pop that nut loose you're good to go. I didn't have a powerful enough impact back when I blew my yoke out and had to do it by hand. When I took my bent 1/2" breaker bar back to sears to exchange it they asked how the hell I bent it to which I responded "I own a lifted Jeep" haha.

What back spacing would you guys recommend for 11.5" wide tires on 5x8 rims to keep them legal for my DD?

Well I was told that the tires cant stick out further than 3" from the body. So when you say way past stock flares, will it be further than 3" from body?

I'm running 12.50 tires on 3.75" backspacing and have absolutely no rubbing, so 11.50s on 4" should be fine. As far as how far your tires stick out, that all depends on who does your inspection. I think the rule is no more than 1" from the flare, and the flare cant be more than 3" wide unless it was like that from the factory
