It's a 1 ton rear, full floating about shaft, 10.5" ring gear piece of beauty. They're very easy to find and they're very cheap. Shaving the bottom of the pumpkin (like I did) will give you the clearance of a d44, but you still have a monstrous, very strong rear. Only planning to run on 33s? Shave the pumpkin, and you'll be fine. You'd never have to worry about breaking it. Disk brake kits are available, or you can make them like I did. Also available are 6 lug conversion kits, to mate with a d44hp 6 lug front, or just buy an 8 lug d44..... Or just say fawk it and throw a d60 under the front..... Regardless, which ever axle you choose.... You have to weld on new perches and shock mounts.... Go big or go home

Not from PA but I follow your thread haha. I actually am starting on my crawler as well; picked up my 14 bolt for $140, and already hacked off all the OEM mounts.
I also plan to pair it with a 60 front for matching width and lug.
Once I saw how simple this axle was I was convinced it was the axle for me, I'll be teaching myself to get an axle with this one, and be doing the front 60 as well to save $.

I will most likely be running 38.5-40's. I was going to get the TMR shave kit (the one without the cover) and doing it with a ruff stuff cover. But then there's the 13 bolt shave using Barnes cover, but I read it will leak of it even looks at a rock haha.
Any advice?

If you don't mind me asking how did you do your shave?

Ignore the shocks, I haven't removed them yet.... I have new 14" travel shocks to put on

I'm also going to get the RS bolt on brake brackets then just source the rest from Napa on one of their bucket days; plus it'll be easier to replace parts.
Have you had this out yet? Or still a project? Just wondering how you like the leafs in the rear. I'm debating getting ORI's all around for ease of install and less brackets, and prob come out cheaper by the time I factor in sways and bumps.
