Turbos whistle. Kids who don't have a turbo but still want to sound fast will put a whistle in their exhaust that sounds similar to the untrained ear. But those untrained ears usually don't know what a turbo whistle is anyway, and everybody hates those kids

Huh......i was referring to the annoying loud high pitch ones.....are they the same thing? It was WAY louder then my Turbo car(t3/t4 50 trim)... The things I'm talking about are a sheet metal ring with a piece sticking up with a hole cut in it, sounds like a rape whistle.

My 6.0 had a really loud whistle to it with the powermax but, now I have a 6.4 and it sounds like a hair dryer

yeah they sound like a rape whistle! A kid in hs was talking smack in the parking lot one day about how fast his turbo vw was and my friend just walked over and was like, theres a whistle stuck in your exhaust
