You haven't done those rockers yet unibomb?

I've honestly been on the fence about them for so long with what option to go with lol. I'm finally deciding on doing the 2x6 replacements. I found out my buddy nearby actually feels like he can weld it for me so I'm set. Calling the scrap supplier tomorrow on prices.

R u cutting the old rockers off?

It's been a long time since I have been on here. What other mods have you done since we had lunch that one day.

Holy crap just took me a second to realize it was you Doug. Wow, yea I have a build thread in my signature with a bunch of stuff. Ended up going to Doe Valley and having a blast, going back Wednesday and talking to one of the members there about helping me weld in the 2x6. I plan on cutting out the rockers between the flares since I want to one day trim and put in new flares so it'll give me room to work with in the future. 2x6 rockers are easy as long as the pinch seams aren't rotted off. I've done quite a few of them and I would highly suggest using 1/8" tubing. I've uses 1/4" and it's a pain to weld to the thin unibody. 3/16" would probably work well too.

1/8 flat stock across door seam and lower pinch seam with 3/16 2x6 sandwiched between the two and welded all over.

I used 1x1x1/8" angle to reinforce the thin sheeting but I cut my rockers completely out and replaced them all the details are in my build thread in my sig if you want any ideas or if you have any questions pm me would be glad to help

Will do and thanks. The local scrap yard told me $103 for two 5' sections of 2x6 3/16" and four 5' sections of 1" 1/8" flat stock for the pinch seams.

That's a pretty good price. Don't forget to get some flat plate to cap the ends off with.

I was thinking about getting an extra four inches and cutting 2"s off at an angle each side and then capping the ends off.

I've been trying to get an extra 4" my whole life lol seriously though, it's a good idea. I usually cut the rear at an angle to match the angle of the wheel well. If I can find any pics I will post them up.

Kinda tough to tell since it's so muddy but, you get the point.

That's the look i'm going for, going to cut off the bottom of the rear flare and stop at the front fender. I don't play in rocks enough to make it more complicated for the front, being a 2 door already has it's disadvantages with this mod. I'm going to have to cut lower on the rocker between the rear wheel well and the door seam to compensate for the lack of a rear door.

Well I finished the floor and installed my long arms and track bar today...waiting on a heim to install the steering and then the front end will be done.
