Yes. Gear oil is corrosive to Yellow Metals such as brass.
Im running STP Pro 30W HD in mine.

Why not run GM Synchromesh GL4, it's a gearbox lube without the EP additives of a (GL5). So it's safe for use in old gearboxes.

THats what freegdr suggested, I picked up 3 bottles yesterday back of bottle says gl3, will try that and see how it goes if not I'll be putting away for a rebuild which I should already do due 2nd gear synchro already being bad from PO
