I have keys to the gates. Sure Im only supposed to use them for business purposes but it looks a lot better to an officer who stops you when you pull the keys to the gate out.

Wait i think i misunderstood what you were saying. It really depends on the situation but if an officer stops you and contacts them they will have you charged with trespassing. It just depends on the situation. Usually a butt hole that owns land next to it wants to pretend he owns the power line as well and calls the cops who then show up and run you off. I have seen them press charges.

Isn't that in Spartanburg next to a big apartment complex? Last I heard it was shut down because of typical idiots.

I think it is in the lower part of the county but I aint sure. I dont get down towards simpsonville much. There is a group on facebook called country boys 4x4. I saw some of those folks were talking about riding there the other day. You could ask around there and Im sure one of them would tell you.

it was closed down, but I heard it was just for logging and it's back open. But was it a legal place or was it always illegal or what's the deal about it? And it's in Spartanburg.

I've never heard of the other two.

My family has property up in TR. We're on the opposite side of the Mtn from Camp Old Indian. Our property butts up to theirs.
The hush hole is on private property and is under a hunting lease. I am friends with some of the folks who are members of the hunting club. Here lately I have noticed that nobody seems to be paying much attention to that anyway. I have had several folks tell me recently that they have been riding it and have encountered no issues. A couple of weeks ago there were a bunch of 4 wheelers pulling out of there as I rode by. It is real rough though.

Franks mountain is on hwy 25. Im sure you have noticed it before. It is the last mountain on the left before getting to the state line. I have not rode up ther in several years but at one time the trails tied in with trails on bailey creek road enabling one to ride pretty much all the way up to jones gap state park boundary. I just asked a friend of mine and he said he rode up in there the other day and made it about a half a mile before it got to rough for his liking. He was driving an xterra with the off road package on it and its his daily so he did not want to hurt it. In other words it aint that bad if you dont mind scratching your paint on limbs.

Chinquapin is off trammel road. Do you know where the coffee pot restraunt on hwy 25 is. Turn by it and go down a couple of miles to the power line. There are several hundred acres that border on the cherokee valley golf community. I like riding there. It is not to rough but you can get rough if you want to. I think it is technically posted but I have never heard of anyone getting into trouble up there and a lot of folks ride it.

Also Oil Camp creek and Persimmon ridge are open during deer season or at least it was last year. Last time I was up there it had gotten real washed out and I could only go a little ways up in there. Up until about 10 years ago one could start at bald rock on ceasars head and ride all the way to river falls road without touching asphalt.

I have not been there in two years but Red Turner Road in Blue Ridge used to be a good place to ride as well. Lots of red mud though. Here lately I do most of my riding on Pinnacle Mountain in Henderson county because it is right down the road from my house. It aint nothing special but has some nice views and a few decent mud holes and hills to play on.

I do not know if it is still open but sky ranch which is up off matthews creek at the table rock watershed used to be the best wheeling around here when I was in high school. I would bet money the tree huggers have shut it down now though because they were wanting to way back then.

I just stick with gulches because I know it's legal and I don't want to be messing up someone else's land. Gotta respect people's stuff.

Because tree huggers keep pushing to have trails closed. The best trails there have already been closed and the ones that are still available keep getting "repaired" to the point that they're no fun. You can do 95% of Uwharrie in 2wd on 31's.

that sucks. Soon there won't be any place to go unless you own your own land.

The whole TN valley/ cumberland plateau is loaded with lots of wheeling on private land that is completely legal. When we lived near Chattanooga there were 4 or 5 places within 45 min that were private at which the land owners actually encouraged folks to come and ride. Lots more land up there than there is here.

If I ever make it big and have money I'll buy some land and let friends wheel on it.
