It's the best. No political pressure from the big bosses who who 8-5 who make you do something one way and then you end up changing it 3 hours later and it isn't 3rd shift.
I'd like the hours of first shift, but it is better than 3rd so I'm happy. Gonna try to work my game on this cute Hispanic operator tonight.

I've worked all 3.

Strawbanana.
When you work 2nd shift you miss the prime time of the day. The time after all the normal people are off work and before they go to bed. You miss all social gatherings that there may be. You miss ALL prime time TV. 2nd shift is the happenin time of the day.
When you work 1st shift you're stuck at work while all businesses are closed and are allowed 30 minutes in the afternoon to rush and try to run errands.
When you work 3rd shift you sleep while everyone is at work, you work while everyone is asleep and every busniess on the face of the planet is open when you get off work and leaves you plenty time to run errands. You choose when you want to sleep. Run errands until 10am, sleep till 4, wake up to go party and go to work at 11pm.
Therefore, 3rd>2nd and almost >1st.
If I didn't have a family I'd be trying to get on 3rd shift.

Yes 3rds. FTW going on 27 years at my current job, I was forced to day shift for a year and a half, about 5 years on seconds, and the rest have been on 3rds/nights, it used to be 3rd shift but for the last 5 or so years it's been 12 hour nights, 3 days a week, sucks to be me, I know.

Missing the social gatherings and events is probably the worst part. I don't care for TV and all my friends have moved to college so the events I do miss are limited.
Tonight I worked with the 3rd shift supervisor... And I'm glad I'm on 2nd... They don't get payed anymore than another shift and I don't think I could handle that supervisor the majority of the time. I also work weekends so my days off are all jacked up by having like Wednesdays and Thursdays off instead of weekends too. The schedule kind of sucks, but I like what I do for the most part and think it will be nice for a few years or so. Everyone on second is glad to be on second because of politics and junk from work, plus I like everyone I work with too.

Get a second oem electric fan... put nuts on the mechanical side and chop the studs flush with the nuts... parts stores have $35 fan wiring kits so no stupid toggle switch... though I recommend a better brand from summit or something...

7/12s is a whole different story... That just means you work too many hours. I'm talking a standard 40 hour 3rd shift work week.
I work 5/10s M-F, 8 on Sat and 6 on Sunday most weeks.
