Lift is just how you want your jeep to sit. Nothing else. Tires and flex have nothing to do with lift.
I can run no lift at all and would not loose any flex, and my 33" tires would still be fine.
That is why I am lowering my jeep an inch.
A Cherokee's fender well only holds a 30" tire. Any larger tire and you will have to modify.
The trick is perfect shock length, bump stop height, and backspacing.
I run 10.5 wide tires so they tuck up inside the fender wells with 1.5" spacers to keep the inner tire from rubbing the lca's . You can run a 12.5 but your back spacing has to be perfect as well as running zj lca's .
My front fenders are trimmed 1.25”. Flares are in the stock location so you can not see anything.
Also the fenders pinch seams have been cut and hammered flat, as well as no more plastic fender well liner. Rear has been cut on the outer lower edges.
Fortunately is does not cost much to have great suspension that will out work any kit you can even buy for short arms. Just takes some time to properly set up everything.
My suggestion is to stay under 3" of lift. No more is ever needed except for looks.
