Hi,
I'm a newbie to this forum, but not Jeeps - I own 7 at the moment. In the process of selling two. I've been wandering around the forum looking for the best place to get advice and one of the guys recommended I drop into this Illinois thread.
I've got a '99 XJ that is missing the front axle and other front parts - bumper grill, etc.
I'm trying to decide if I should part it or work at finding somebody who would take it for a crawler project. Are there many like that here in Illinois? Besides the Cliffs and the Badlands, it's a long way to really good off-roading. Do guys around here build XJ crawlers?
Anyhow, I'd appreciate your perspective on what to do with it. I'd really prefer that someone just come and take it away. Minimum work for me. The last time I parted out a Jeep ('91 YJ) it took a year. If I have to, I'll do that again.
What do you all think I should do?
Thanks.

The 4.7s were found in the WJs. You will find 4.0L, 5.2L and 5.9L in the ZJs. If you find a decent 5.9L be prepared to pay for premium gas only. The 5.2L and the 4.0L will take any gas type.

Hi John!! I've talked to you on TIJA before. There a number of XJ crawlers out there, but most are closer to the areas of where crawling can happen.

Easier said than done. Can't really move out, due to work, and still live with the folks. But I also don't think I want to daily drive my Cherokee regardless. It's built to be on the trails, doesn't belong on the streets really. Attracts way too much attention anyway..
There's a Dodge ram Mega cab on 40's being DD my cousin DD with 44's on his Ford hiboy now its on 53's and is a weekend cruiser

Damn.. I don't think I could do that. Those tires are expensive, no? I'd have to get ATs if I were to DD it. No traction in the rain with these MTs.
